It all began innocently enough. I went to a buy a new vacuum cleaner and perhaps, depending on the price, a wireless Bluetooth keyboard for my PS3, but I ended up buying so much more than I expected.

You see, this is rather unusual for me. I'm very financially responsible, my monthly budget often ends in a surplus and I rarely buy anything without planning and making sure I can afford it. I'm also quite patient when it comes to new technologies (I just bought my first Smartphone one month ago, a Galaxy S2) and consoles, waiting for the price to drop, the library to build and the kinks to be ironed out before taking the plunge.

Alas, none of that mattered today. The shop I went to buy the vacuum cleaner has a cool gaming section, and as usual I stopped by to see if there were any good deals to be had, when I saw it (lots of it, actually. No stock shortage here, that's for sure). It was love at first sight. Well, not really, but you get the idea. It looked so beautiful, so inviting... I swear it was staring right at me. I could almost hear it whispering my name...

I don't know what happened, I just couldn't resist. Sure, I'm stoked by the recent wave of awesome Nintendo announcements, and Iwata's promise of no incoming price cuts (hear that, Iwata? You PROMISED!!!!) also helped, but that's just not something I do, not to mention it's not a particularly good time for me to be spending lots of money on a whim. For one, I have a massive backlog, and I don't buy and forget, I always play every single game I buy, so I won't even play the Wii U that much right now. I also had several big one-off expenses in the last 2 months that turned the aforementioned surplus into a deficit. Now, I won't be defaulting on rent or anything like that, but I need to balance the books, so to speak.

And once my "defenses" were broken, I just went on a shopping rampage. Besides the Wii U, I bought 3 Wii U games as well as several games on what I call "the queue", the list of games I intend to play once I'm done with my current backlog. Plus a new mouse. At least I forgot the keyboard...

Impulse shopping is a bad thing, right? So I should be feeling remorseful, or guilty, or something, but hell, I'm just excited. I'm sure the real world will knock on my door soon enough, but for now I'm just going to enjoy it as much as I can!

I'm so fucked. And so very, very happy!
