While Ive briefly thought of the idea a few times, I think its finally time the server be decoupled from Destructoid. I thank most of you for your support up until this time, but Ive grown really sick of some people and to a lesser extent the thanklessness of continuing to provide this service to the community and getting nothing but malice in return for it. Congrads, you just cost the community its server.

FNF post last week for an example of bullshit I don't like, sorry, but I'm not going to ban or exclude
someone whose done much more for the server than the majority of you based on some stupid point.
The server isn't disappearing, just not going to server this "community" any longer. Thanks to that nice 140+ steamID thread I got going too, I can throw down a bunch of bans for people that have been asshats on the server after tonight. After which Im going to purge the reserved list going forward so only the people that actually have supported the server have access to slots.
Last TFT will be tonight, 8pm cst as usual, same IP, pass is alsococks.

yea for those that are interested the challenge is to pick a good song that is thematically correct for each class and then a song or two that could be the server's theme song. If you have any submissions you can PM them to me. This Friday I'm gonna start hurt/heal threads for all the submissions to pick the best ones. These will be on the server forums.
There's a separate forum being set up for the regulars so that they can continue to communicate. Details on that will be forthcoming once it's up and running.

Its not like its going away or not becoming any less of a community server. The way I understand it is its not official and it probably doesn't suit either Niero or the people who run it to keep it as a "Destructoid" server. I'm sure the fine folks at Destructoid don't want to have to worry about what goes on on a TF2 server and the admins of the server should have a free hand in regulating it to keep it a friendly place.

I have a lot of respect for the people that run the server for us. Everyone seems to be taking this the wrong way though. To me its just a way to keep it a friendly place. A lot of drama has spilled over onto the server from Dtoid and this just means the admins can keep it out.
I would join, but I am disgusted by the amount of "decoupling" advocates (read: CelibatePowered) on this server.
I can't believe I'm the first in to rehash that meme.

Eh, being a masters student in finance, I keep hearing about world markets decoupling from the US markets, so thats the first word that came to mind.

I still don't know what happened. I checked the post for last FNF, and the furries comments on there seemed relatively harmless. I didn't play for very long last Friday though, something might have happened after I left? And if people are being abusive in-game, first isn't there a mute button? Second, don't we have admins that I dunno, sort of ADMINISTRATE the server? I'm still confused by the decision, but as long as we all get to keep playing I guess it doesn't matter. I'll only be harder to get newcomers in on the action, and I wouldn't have met any of you if it wasn't on Dtoid to begin with.
In other news, I totally respect and admire the hard work and dedication Caff and others have put into making the server my top favorite to play on. See you in the server (as greenmachine)

The admins do administrate but it's kinda hard to start kicking Dtoid people when it's a Dtoid server.
The furry comments were mostly due to some tinyurl and html form trickery... :(

:( I haven't been on much lately (too busy with school), but all the comments last week kinda pissed me off. Maybe I'm just looking for a reason to be butt-hurt, but a metric fuck-ton of the folks complaining don't even have the PC's to play TF2 on the server, much less contribute to the server's community. I'm all for the decoupling. Will the IP on the server change, or is it staying the same? I really enjoyed all the tomfoolery on there, I hope I can still play :)

Really sorry to hear this happen. I don't play TF2 a whole lot anymore, but whenever I do I always look to see if you guys are playing as it's always a blast to play on. Although I'm glad to hear it'll stay public. Maybe I'll try and come on more.
