Hai my name is Kyle. Things I like include: burritos, beer, skateboarding, the environment, painting, baseball, and those videogame contraptions. I have a passion for the bizarre Japanese stuff, but have a pretty eclectic taste in games. I'm the guy making snarky comments about the latest AAA titles and raving about the latest, greatest thing that'll be lucky to self half a million copies.
Earlier in the week I made a post on how Capcom and Nintendo are trying to forge a better relationship between the two companies. Currently, that means coordinating with one another during events for Monster Hunter 3. I jokingly added that the best outcome from this relationship would be Nintendo vs. Capcom, having never really thought of the prospect before. Apparently fans, as seen above, have created their own versions of what NvC would look like, and the idea has occurred to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's producer Ryota Niitsuma as well.
Perhaps, the idea is not so far fetched after all. You can be sure a mash up between Super Smash Bros and Street Fighter would sell unbelievably well. So Nintendo, Capcom...what's stopping you?
Zero vs Link would be such a better fight. I'd love to see Capcom and Nintendo collaborate to make a 2D fighter with Nintendo characters. The next best thing would be to add Capcom characters (Mega Man/Zero, Dante, Viewtiful Joe, Ryu/Ken/Akuma, Spencer from Bionic Commando) to a new Smash Brothers game, but Nintendo seriously needs to remove some of the alterations of SSBB (random tripping, reworked floating mechanics).
After all, Capcom did co-develop Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Zelda: The Minish Cap... which are freaking awesome.
Do you really think they would oppose it that vehemently?
Brawl has sold about 9 million copies in a little over a year. You would think that most people that want it already have it, or are buying it used now.
The version of Soul Calibur II with Link sold better than the other two versions. Nintendo likes money and going 50-50 on this with Capcom would rake it in.
I doubt Nintendo would be opposed to a crossover fighting game with Capcom, it would make both companies ridiculous amounts of money. That being said, I would like to see two games come out of this partnership (if it ever happens), one of them in the SSB style and one in the traditional SF style.
If it plays like Tastunoko Vs Capcom and has the ammount of characters as MvC2, I'll be happy. A Smash Bros. type game would be fine, but a real NvC game would be amazing.
Real gamers got passed the obvious cash in, that is the real motivation behind this
AND...
If casual gamers had any fucking idea who Capcom are.
I for one am against it completely. Nintendo are taking some of my most beloved childhood mascots and whoring them out like a pimp that gets his cut no matter what.
Man, how come this never crossed my mind! I can totally see this happen and it would be amazing, completely mind blowing. As for the smash version, I doubt it very much, just maybe megaman.

Seriously? You're rationalizing (with rather weak reasons) your out of what would be quite probably a great game?
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. I agree. They would be reluctant because of Brawl.
But if Capcom gets the opportunity, it NEEDS to be done.

It is a little disappointing.

Don't play it.
