Because I'm away at school for most of the year I game in two very different places. Most of the year it's away at school, in a much smaller and somewhat controlled environment. At home, I have five younger siblings and all the messes associated with that. I just wandered around the house and took photos of all the places where my siblings and I game. Our mom has never been happy with videogames, and will just toss them places if she sees them out, which is part of the cause for some of the messes you're about to see, but it's also because my siblings are kind of slobs about gaming stuff, and don't really care about treating it nicely.
The computer that is next to mine, an older Dell. A Dimension 4600. We used to play Guild Wars on it quite a bit, but over the years it has gotten worse and worse despite more and more frequent wipes.
My new computer, built it two weeks ago, the monitor is new too. The mouse is a Razer Copperhead, and I have a Steelsound 4H headset there as well, behind those there is a 500 GB Buffalo external Hard Drive.
Boxes next to my bed, in the same room as those two computers. The full Rock Band set and the Guitar from World tour are in the first box. The other box has a random assortment of odds and ends, from Trauma Center: New Blood, to screwdrivers, to an issue of EGM. Basically just random storage of things I brought back from school for break.
Another shot of my room, there's a little nightstand/table next to my bed where a few of the Blu-Rays, DS games and PS3 games that I brought home got dumped.
The first picture of the mess that is our basement.
Assorted games, controllers, a Wii and a Genesis.
Cords, controllers, games, an N64, a Playstation, and an Xbox.
Controllers on the couch, dance pads behind it. A Gamecube that was apparently being tortured, and a large mess of cords. That may seem like a pretty large tangle of cords, but I probably took the majority of the gaming/av/whatever cords with me to school. Those are only a fraction of what we have accumulated over the years, all of which I refuse to throw away.
Another look at more of the games that litter the floor of our basement.
Games scattered off of their rack in the room I used to share with two brothers.
A shot of the floor, you can see a Wii on the left side, with a few more games on the ground as well.
TV in that room, also my PSOne is there as well as a Wiimote, season one of Dexter, an unopened pack of the cards that are part of the Civilization card game that came with the Civilization complete pack thing.
Finally in that room there was a shoe box that I knocked off of the dresser by mistake, as it turned out it had some SNES games in it.
The other family computer, and no end of headaches for myself. It is a Dell Dimension E521. I am the designated "fix anything that runs on electricity person" in our family, and that computer has given me more problems than almost anything else. By all rights it shouldn't be as terrible as it is, but a series of mistakes has given it issues. For example, my family lost all the Dell discs that came with it including OS so I installed my copy of Vista on it which it can't really run altogether competently. Something is also seriously wrong with the GPU, since it can't even play Spore. It is almost painful for me to watch a family member sit there and use it, not even caring that lines are flickering across the screen. My littlest brothers do love to play Age of Empires though, and it can run that.
Finally, the nice TV. The one we all want to play our games on, and do. Just not when mom is around. The PS2 often gets a pass however, because it is home to Singstar, which my sister enjoys (because she's the only girl she gets whatever she wants)and my mom does play occasionally, and also because there are no DVD players in the house with remotes, so it functions in that capacity as well. Not pictured: My PS3 was by the front door since I brought Rock Band to a New Year's party. There's also a Wii Fit board somewhere in the house, as well as at least one SNES. I also forgot to take a picture of my EGM/GI/Wired/Nintendo Power Magazine collection, but this post was more about where I game at home, rather than than collections. So that's my home. It's messy, but it's fun.
Once I get back to school in a few weeks, I'll throw up the complementary part 2.
this is horrible :-)
how many discs have you guys killed over the years ? :-)
but cool post, that's for sure!
and uh, you have nice stuff but you might want to clean up and organize the games.
Anyways, yeah I know it's messy, but it is seriously a hassle to clean it up when my siblings just tear it apart again anyways. My setup is a little different at school.
AHHHHH
My OCD tendencies are getting the best of me right now.
take the pictures down quick ;p
