Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Them and their newfangled pesthrees and three sixties.
The game is identical content wise, the PS3 just has much higher resolution graphics, audio and video.
Some people found things they didn't like about FF.
Some other people told them to STFUAJPG.
Those first people got offended so obviously that increased the volume of bitching plus they felt like they had to defend their bitchiness which led to then blowing things into epic proportions.
Then those sencond people are currently doing what the first people did. Getting frustrated and increasing their volume of bitchiness while blowing out of proportion the number of people actually blowing things out of proportion.
I haven't followed the fanboy "360 raped FF," thing because that's fanboyism and, so, yeah. That usually just breaks down into nonsense if it had basis to begin with. At least the "FF critics vs. FF critic critics," thing is entertaining for a hit even if it's in circles.
Then there's the plot thing where some people think it makes sense and others think it doesn't.
All in all it's been pretty typical of any FF title. The multiplatform thing is new, and it started out really decent before the games launch (albeit composed almost entirely of speculation from both sides) but it's kind of gotten silly. It's lookin' damn fine across the board. People should stop getting hung up on What if's and enjoy the fucking game. Especially the delay thing. Why choose now to complain about delays?
TLDR.

This has happened with EVERY Final Fantasy I remember coming out, since the first one. It's a very polarizing game series, because whilst most mainstream gaming fans may not pick up say, Star Ocean, they will pick up and try Final Fantasy because it's popular. Hence the large amount of vocal polarization.
"FFVII's cutscenes are AMAZING!" - "Yea but they have block hands LOL".
"FFVIII - you can move during the FMVS!" - "LOL draw system this game sucks you can beat it at level 2".
"FFX - voice acting! It's great!" - "LOL TEEDUS! It's so linear!"
FF9 is pretty much the only Final Fantasy game I can think of that pretty much everyone liked. When you take a genre that's fairly niche in America, and hype it, you're bound to get a lot of people who hate JRPGs in general saying the game sucks.
FFIX gets widely panned.
Also, I don't get the ire that Final Fantasy XIII has garnered. It seems pretty good, not great and that's ok with me. Guess people just like to vent. /shrug
You don't get how to relate to the characters because they are not consistent nor they make any sense most of the time when having conversations.
"Thought I told you, Moms are Tough"
but here is the funny part. Things are so messed up with the Story that you actually have found a new way of enjoying a FF game, the same way you would watch a horrible Chinese dubbed movie.
