Riding off of the high of finally beating A Link to the Past I decided it was time to dust off my never before played copy of Ocarina of Time, and give it a whirl. In A Link to the Past, Link is a manly man. A manly man with purple hair maybe, but a manly man nonetheless. So what the fuck was up with the fairy?



The main reason Zelda fans hate Navi is, well:

HEY LISTEN!

I hate Navi for a different reason.

I hate Navi because she took a lot of the challenge out of Ocarina of Time.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game for what it was, but every time you'd approach a Hookshot spot or an area where you should pull out your Ocarina she would glow green. Most of the time it was something obvious that you could have figured out on your own, but for those few times that it wasn't, I was forced to curl up inside of myself and curse Nintendo for taking away the excitement about exploring in Zelda.



Not only did she tell you how to solve puzzles, and how to advance the story. Oh no. She had to tell you the weakness to almost every enemy in the game as well. Again, many times it was obvious, but it still took some of the classic Zelda challenge out of the game. Would the Water Temple have received the backlash that it got had the rest of the game been more challenging?


I don't know, and I don't really care. Frankly, I just really fucking hate Navi.
