Have you played Metroid? I don't think Metroid really has tacked on controls. If you said Twilight Princess does, I'd say you were right. But how can you say it is tacked on? Just cause they didn't use the CLASSIC controller? Is EVERY FPS or ANY game on the Wii going to be considered a game with "tacked on controls?"
If a game is designed with Wii controls in mind, it isn't tacked one. Yes, there were two previous Metroid Prime's, but was there ever a MP3 build shown for the GameCube? I don't think there was.
When will Wii game's ever NOT have "tacked on controls" in your mind?
As for forge mode, FarCry: Instinct Predator for the 360. Enough said.
This is not saying I think Forge mode sucks...I have only played single player so far. I will try out forge mode and multi in the future, just haven't yet. They could rock my world, but it is not like it isn't done before. I mean I still think FarCry has a REALLY nicely done map creator that just wowed me.

I own a Wii. All games feel like the controls are sloppy compared to classic controllers. The Forge in Halo 3 is much different from the one in Farcry.
