Look at this interesting article about how Ultimate Spider-Man 2 may or may not have been cancelled of even made.
If anyone played the first game then you would know that it was pretty sweet and a good follow-up to Spider-Man 2. But anyway, this probably happens a lot with video games, but you guys know how I loves my comic book games.
I really liked Ultimate Spider-Man, except for the damn "chase" levels, those were awful. If they make a sequel and get rid of the chasing levels, I would buy it.
I wasn't a fan of US-M. I might like it more now, but stepping down from the amazing webswinging of S-M2 was really hard. Maybe I'll pick it up someday along with WoS. In my opinion, Spider-Man 2 perfeced webswinging, because of the speed, the ability to wallrun, and the overall smoothness. All others are just imitating.
@Butmac: Alright, I'll be sure to pick it up if I ever see it used! I know that the voice acting must be better than WoS, and I do like cel shading.
Also, "perfeced" in my earlier comment should be "perfected"
@ Bloodylip: Tell me about it. I actually have a save with all the races completed as soon as they unlock, just so I can replay through the game without going through that nonsense again.
The only thing that kept Ultimate Spider-Man from being as great as Spider-Man 2 was the repetitive nature of the missions. As Spider-Man you either, A) Chase boss down or B) Fight boss. Venom was a little better with the whole "chased by the military" thing, but even that was limited. I would have liked to have seen more elaborate mission structures.
Which brings me to another point - why, oh why, has no open-world superhero game capitalized on feeling like a super-powered being fighting another super-powered being in a city? Often you are sectioned off into a single area and that's it. Ironically the only time it really felt like a game was taking advantage of the environment was the Green Goblin II boss fight in Spider-Man 3 when you play as Peter being chased through the city. You could go anywhere, and fight him from Times Square to the Empire State building.

I bought the GC and DS versions of the game, a while back for $10 each, and still haven't opened either.
I do love me some Bendis Spider-Man stories though...
They made Peter pretty close to the material, he was a smartass giving a snooty remark every 45 seconds.
It was a blast. and having the double jump saved my ass from certain death at times.
Falling off the daxter building then pressing jump 2 inches from the ground to escape death defied physics, but spidey does that a lot.
But they made Wolverine look like a wuss, Venom kicked his ass the first level you play as him. oh soi!
I would purchase a sequel.
It's definitely NOT licensed crap - give it a shot it's a good game.
@the cleaning guy
Dude - WoS is absolute shit, if you didn't like USM then I highly doubt you will like WoS. Give those cel shadings another try!
