Hello, fellow gamers and gamerettes (Is that sexist?). I had a falling out with Destructoid (for heaven's sake, the site's very name is not in the dictionary) a long, long time ago and I am astonished to see that my name is still registered on the site. Anyway, I thought I'd say some ultimately uninteresting but required stuff about my vanilla existence. I love games. All sorts of games. Even the eroge ones (especially the eroge ones, now that I think about it). The problem is I have not played very many video games. Even the eroge ones. I chalk that up to being a poor piece of shit that had to hand every dime over to the family just to get the rent paid, but alas, that is a topic for another day.
Anyway, I derive my gamer credibility from receiving a reply from Jonathan Holmes, our very own white knight and all-around awesome and unnaturally handsome scholar of everything gaming. Just in case you want to check it out, it's on his "Revolutions in Gaming" article. Also, I really like Jim Sterling. He's mega, hyper, super, insanely cool and I love his fat, pink, beautiful face. I would kiss him if I could.
Ahem, I've completed the following games:
-- Resident Evil 4 (NGC)
-- Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
-- Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
-- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA)
-- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (GBA)
-- Jet Set Radio
-- Jest Set Radio Future
-- Gears of War
-- Gears of War 2
Some nuggets of (very mildly) interesting information from my (very limited) gaming experience follow. When I first saw Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue on the Dreamcast in 2008, my mind was blown. The colors, polygons, animation, EVERYTHING blew my 16 year old mind. Resident Evil 4 likewise gave me an eye orgasm with its AMAZANG (<-- Intentional misspelling) graphics at around the same time. My interest, nay fascination/infatuation, with gaming began and has peaked and crashed with the waxing and waning of my life since. I dream nearly constantly of a room packed wall-to-wall with games of all kinds.
And that's a bit about me. I'd like to get to know the community here better. Especially Magnalon. Actually, that name is the only one that comes to mind right now.
Now, I know you saw that title (you know, "Hi Everybody!" like that doctor on Simpsons), and immediately concluded that this post would not be worth your time. You are 110% correct, but bare with me a little and I'll keep it short as possible as I introduce myself. I joined this site a couple of months ago, and this is probably the fourth time I've actually logged on. I visit DToid almost everyday, so this is a bit awkward, but I tend to be too lazy to log on. Anyway, I would like to familiarize people with who I am, so I decided to write up this short post in order to do just that. I am not going to get personal (because frankly that could be dangerous), and I'll just give you a general overview of who I am.
Wait ... I've completely ran out of ideas. All I can think of saying is that I live in Central Ohio (like Paul Soth, another user who's page I find quite interesting), and that I enjoy video games and gaming very much, even though I usually do not have the money to expend upon my hobby. That, and that I would love to get to know some of you (not in a touchy-feely, pedo-like sense; I'm not a 60 year old ice cream man here), and share my passion for this hobby with other users. Uh, its coming back to me: and I especially enjoy RPG's, fighting games, adventure games (straight adventure fare like Shenmue, for example, which I've almost completed and love in spite of heavy opposition), strategy games, and shooters. I got an old Genesis and Super Nintendo from a neighbor, and that is when I think I really started to get into retro gaming, which has brought me to this wonderful web site and all the thoughtful and interesting articles users post by the dozens everyday. I would love to continue to get to know people who have similar interests, and hopefully summon enough thoughts to one day write a comprehensive introductory article to all of you. Until then, as the French say [(or don't say, I can't really tell) (and I am not French either, just a little FYI)], au revoir!
Below is an accurate representation of me (complete with crappy and overused Google Images images;it's almost a tongue twister!)
