I broke out the old Xbox, played some games.
Xyanide
a)It's a 3D schmup like R-type Final.
b)You can shoot with the right thumbstick like Geometry Wars.
c)Shit's hard.
Otogi: Myth Of Demons
a)Best menu screen ever.
b)Double jump? Double jump.
c)I hate double jumping.
d)Camera kind of sucks, but you get used to it.
e)Pretty solid action game despite this shit.
Breakdown
a)Oh shit, first person backflips are awesome.
b)AI partner is retarded, needs to be more like Alyx Vance.
c)The soda machines for health are cool.
d)This game rocks.
Bulkfailure, out.
Also, I never got that far into it, but I hear it gets pretty balls awesome about halfway through.
Oh wait...
Oh right, blog post. Um... I don't know any of these games, they all seem to have flown under my radar. Breakdown especially seems cool.
Xyanide is overly flashy and really hard, but good.
Otogi is one of the best 3D action games of the last generation.
Breakdown is a game of great ideas and mediocre implementations. The things it tried to do have since been done better elsewhere - Mirror's Edge, Zeno Clash, Riddick, etc - but it's still a pretty good game and well worth playing.
Unfortunately I don't think any of these are backwards compatible.
