Marketing is one of the most important aspects of any upcoming game launch. Some companies do a fantastic job of this (Microsoft) while others just don't do any at all, such is the case with Nintendo and the release of Metroid Prime 3. Am I the only one that had absolutely no idea this game was out today until like, just now?

As the release of Halo 3 draws closer and closer, I have seen some shining examples of how to market a product. The first step in this marketing blitzkrieg is of course the Mountain Dew Game Fuel. Halo 3 is pasted all over place. Check the ad below.



Now that's a good ad, but step 2 ramps it up a bit with the production value and goes Hollywood. Neill Blomkamp who is slated to direct the Halo film has released part 1 of "Halo 3 Combat"



Awesome. It's not as if Halo 3 needs anymore help moving units, it's just that these ads are just brilliant ways to get people even more hyped about the game. Now, not all companies can afford to do this, but still this should be an example as to how you should market a game. Some really great games don't sell simply because no one knows about them. Come on September 25th.

I have a copy of Bioshock just staring at me, and absolutely no system to play it with. You see, a couple of weeks back (actually more like three weeks) my 360 decided to go to shit. Well I got the goods news that it should be coming back today. Still no UPS, and no system. So here I am like an ass looking at the game drinking some Wild Turkey and weeping. I played the demo at a friends house and loved it. Seeing how critics and gamers alike have been gushing about it, I want to play the damn game.

And they taught me how to count. All joking aside, loving the the community here. Add that to my unhealthy addiction to blogs and we have a great combination. All this talk about Bioshock has me itching to get my 360 back from Microsoft. As if I need to tell everyone that it suffered the three rings of death. Imagine that. Glad to be a part of the community and looking forward to meeting some cool people, I hope. I fucking love this place.
