<p>There are some people that you just hate. Whether it be Uwe Boll or Shia LaBeouf, there is someone that completely ruins your hopes and dreams, and you want him dead. For me, that person is Roger Avary, the screenwriter for <i>Silent Hill</i>. While he's not dead in a flaming car wreck, the screenwriter was arrested under suspicion of DUI, after getting in a car crash around 1 a.m. this morning. Avary was travelling with his wife, Gretchen, and a friend, Andreas Zedini. Avary's wife was flung from the car, and Zedini was killed. He posted $50,000 bail, after being charged with felony driving under the influence and spending some time in Ventura County Jail. Avary won an Oscar for co-writing <i>Pulp Fiction </i>with Tarantino, and worked on <i>Beowulf </i>from last year. My whole problem with Roger Avary, so that you know, was the writing debacle known as <i>Silent Hill</i>. He "didn't want to be constrained by the original work," creating the <i>Silent Hill</i> film that we've come to know. On the other hand, the director, Christophe Gans, made a bunch of people play the first game so they could understand what it was like. But no, Avary didn't want to pay attention, and instead turned Pyramid Head into just a boss instead of the manifestation of James' guilt. Now that I'm done with that little vent, let's see what happens to him as this case develops.</p><p>[Via ShackNews]</p>

And Silent Hill sucked, the games were so much better, why couldn't they just copy them and turn it into a movie instead of making it retarded?
FUCKING FAIL
Why? It's like, a video game movie, you know? You gotta make it really really cool and badass to the max.
But yes, I agree with the image and the entire subtext it's meant to convey.
The Silent Hill movie was an atrocious piece of trash. I'm glad I didn't pay 7 bucks for that movie ticket.
This is a gaming site, they probably wouldn't have even reported on it if it wasn't for the fact that he shit on a game-related movie.
We certainly feel bad for the people, especially considering the fact that he was supposedly drunk so chances are this could have all been avoided if he, oh you know, HAD ANY FUCKING COMMON SENSE!!!
How the fuck many times do we need to tell people drinking and driving will get them and others killed before they listen? It will never get through to some people, which is part of why our world is such a shit hole. People like him who think rules don't apply to them.
Go after who is responsible for the last 2 Resident Evil movies...now those are shit
I know this blog is about video games, but fuckin eh man. I for one don't enjoy reading about someone reveling in another's tragedies.
He did it to himself. No one else is getting him jail time but his own irresponsibility. Is Dick's post a little insensitive? Yes. Did this guy fuck his own life up with this accident? Yes. No one did this for him.
So yeah Roger Avary sucks. Who are we supposed to be sad for here? The guy that died I guess, but it's this douchebags fault.
Most horror films suck anyway, so what did you expect? It was miles ahead of any of those crappy 80s schlock horror films that retards watch over and over again...
Can't comment on the movie though, because everybody told me it sucked.
Not trying to generalise, but if you americans would just relax a bit, the world would probably be a nicer place ;)
I never said what he did was right. Drinking and driving is a very stupid thing to do and yes, whatever comes to him from it is his own damn fault. I was only pointing out that it is a tragedy none the less and some tool is happy over it because of something as petty as ruining his little movie.
Stupidity and accidents happen. They always will. One day you will make a bad decision and possibly have to pay dearly for it. I hope someone isn't posting thank god it happened to you because that 'one time when you were a waiter in college you brought me a soup instead of the salad I asked for and totally ruined my dinner! BURN IN HELL!'
And Uwe boll boxing, what a pisser!!!
You are overgeneralizing. Also, there is a difference between being annoyed by the conservative right being huffy about alien skin and getting huffy oneself about celebrating someone's manslaughter. You know, just a little bit of a difference.
Of course I am overgeneralising, but I am not going to dissemble just on the off chance that I offend some flag waving patriot who takes what I say the wrong way (I am not saying you are one, its just a statement).
It just seems to be a prevalent trend. Don't worry, it happens here in Australia too, but not as much.
It seems that whenever anyone says something thats not 100% PC there are 20 people ready to jump on it and decry the person's inhumanity.
Did you laugh at Dale Earhardt or Steve Irwin jokes that went around the net the day after their deaths? I am sure you did. This is no different.
Making a joke, however in poor taste you think it is, isn't going to effect the situation in any way.
All I am saying is think before you post - does it really matter if he says something about some guys DUI or even death? What are you defending, really? Who is this guy to you? Or are you just bored and want to start some drama because you want attention?
Was I trying to be funny? Not really. Just a little deadpan, like I always am. If I was, like someone mentioned earlier, I would've made a correlation between him getting arrested and writing the bad script. I mean, it's not like I stalk the guy and poke at his every move.
Christ, people.
sometimes its people who kill people
sometimes its physics
and SOMETIMES its DESTINY
@Linde
The difference is the local newspaper wouldn't headline it with "There is a God", point out the arrest, and gloss over the deaths.
Look at it this way - if this was Jade Raymond, the tone of this post would have been completely different. It'd be "we hope she gets the help she needs, best wishes to her family". Instead it's some guy that wrote a bad movie (and a good one too - Pulp Fiction anyone??), so that makes it alright?
So he fucked up, made some bad choices - maybe he even deserved it. But let's not celebrate it.

Another passenger, Andreas Zedini, 34, of Italy, died at Ventura County Medical Center after county firefighters had to extricate him from the vehicle, McGrath said.
"Gloss over" really isn't appropriate. The original source covered a whole sentence more than I did.
Again, not saying the guy deserves any sympathy, but wishing his death because he ruined your movie's script? It just sounds overdone...
*awaits slaughter*
<3
That make you all happy now?
