While the guys at Joystiq were lounging in their massive pile of gaming industry conference and event invitations, they noticed something special. This year at E3 MTV Games will be holding an event called “Rock Band Bash” on the show floor, presumably to show that the game is still hip and being supported. Not so fast. An observer noticed that the invitation seen below looks quite like the leaked concept box art shown in the marketing fiasco a week ago.

Looks can be deceiving, but this seems all too much of a coincidence. With the new Guitar Hero games lurking on the horizon, why wouldn’t MTV and Harmonix fire back? The only question I have in my mind is, “Will I lose my Jimmy Buffet track pack?” I guess we’ll have to see when E3 rolls around.
