Okay, I know this is probably old news by now, and I also realise that it's probably quite a petty thing to be angry about, but seeing as I don't own a PS3 I haven't REALLY been up to date on what it offers. But hey, and seeing as I no longer have my PS2, it's just making it a pain in the arse for me.
Anyways, surfing the interwebs, I suddenly come across an article about the PS3 has done something to fuck up one of the features making me more inclined to get one. Apparently, in Europe (if not everywhere) now, the PS3 60 GB model has now been discontinued, and backwards compatibility with it. One word:
Fuck.
I sold my PS2 before the news of the PS3's wallet raping price was actually confirmed, as I had other consoles to play while I wait, and now the only PS3 I can get is one that doesn't even play the games I want to, which means to play them I'll have to go out and get a new PS2 and just take up more room on my already overcrowded desk thing (which has my PC, TV, Freeview box, Wii and 360 on it.)
Jesus Christ, Microsoft keep releasing consoles nobody WANTS (Core/Arcade,) and Sony takes away the one that most people (that I know) actually DO want.
This "HOME" thing better be as good as I'm hoping it is. Hell, the whole year of 2008 for PS3 game releases better be, because I've basically lost 3 years worth of games that I won't be able to find now, games that I really wanted to play but now can't without spending MORE money that I would have done on the damn PS3.

Ummm have you been living under a rock or something? This has been known about the 60 gig discontinued. The 80 gig offers Backwards Compatibility thru software just not as thorough as the 60.
Besides the 80Gig is too expensive for me.
I was just about to rag on (as most people will) for being a fanboy, i you hated on MS too. Your actually just as grumpy as me and Jim! I own all 3 systems, and am enjoying them all. Only got my PS3 recently, but the games I have are incredibly good.
Also, (cocks) you can upgrade the HD in the PS3 (unlike the 360) so the extra space isn't missed.
Quick tip: Edit your cblog to use paragraphs (add a blank line), and add the pic. The edit function seems seldom used by new members, but you should alsways try to not suck
i think the biggest barrier isn't the price point but the percieved value of the system.
I want a PS3 eventually, Im forced to settle for the 80 gig PS3 cause no backwards compatibility at all just plain sucks. Though I can still get the 60 gig model at like Amazon but I just want to get a PS3 at a store where I can go complain if there are any problems with it (and get a warranty).
If you find a 60Gig its the same price as the 80gig
Because not everyone is informed as us addicts of the gaming blogs I'm curious how many people were surprised by the 40 gig's this holiday. I know in the stores I saved maybe 3 people from the 40 gig(they got 80's instead). The text on the box that says no BC is very small fine print. And you have a populous of consumers that have come to expect BC from Sony I mean it was infact one of the things they liked to beat their cheast over.
PS3 games.
But seeing as how games are still being released for PS2, albeit old, but a larger library and on the whole BETTER games, (at the moment), I don't wanna go round picking up 9001 different consoles just to play FF12 and the new MGS this year.
