Yeah, essentially its all about survival and who does it best, but I really think this mode of play brings a competitive spirit to the game while still encouraging and rewarding good cooperative play from both sides.
I'm really excited to try it out, but I won't touch it until I've conquered all the "movies".
I really shouldn't be spending money on this, but I know I will. Add me when you get home to your Steam list BSD.
We aren't friends already? Thought we were...I saw you playing Madden the other week :P
I hadn't really thought too much about the versus mode as the zombies, but that could be pretty interesting.
Can you gang up and use different tactics? Like have a smoker drag a dude far away into a crowd of zombies, and then swarm the rescuers when they follow to revive? Can you have more than one of each type of boss zombie? Can you pick which one you want?
Sorry if my questions are redundant, but I didn't see any of this covered on that site you linked to.

YES!
I dont think so...
No
If people are complaining about the replayability of this game, they will never be satisfied.
The replayability is only an issue if you don't have a set of friends you enjoy playing games with. Because of the small scale co-op, and the need for teamwork, the game fucking blows if you're only used to joining random servers or doing matchmaking if you're playing the 360 version, since you can't guarentee the same ammount of communication and teamwork every time you play. Personally I can't be bothered to be paired up with the racists, 12 year olds, and retards that permeate Live, PSN. The PC community is a slight improvement but even that is still shit.
The difficulty of the campaign isn't a shock either. If the demo levels are any indication of the length of each "movie's" total length, then most of the time will be spent trying to inch your way through the short levels. What makes the game awesome is how even though you're fighting for every single square foot, it's not trial and error gameplay. Nothing short of total teamwork will get you through the higher difficulties.
Well what I was hearing is that you get to a point and they give you a selection of zombie bosses available at that particular time. It might mean you get to choose from a Smoker and Hunter or they might just GIVE you one and no choice.
Also remember, the zombie bosses have a bigger map. As a Hunter and the Smoker (ESPECIALLY) your map is larger containing some areas out of the humans reach to give you more of an advantage since you know how easy they are to kill.
But I think you will be able to have more than one type of zombie since there are only 4 zombie bosses and you can't ALWAYS be a Tank.
I just don't want to get stuck being the fat ass boomer, waddling around and puking everywhere. Other than that, I'm cool.
This sounds like it could be pretty fun... :)

Wait someone complained about replay value.......................
I played through the demo over 9000 times and it has never been the same.
I'm a bit worried about what's going to happen if two people play hunter and two more play smoker at the same time. With a bit of skill they could incapacitate all four players at the same time and get an instavictory.
I heard that the AI director chooses a zombie class for you. You can't choose what you want to be while respawning. As always in this game, teamwork will be very important, (i.e. a smoker and boomer teaming up. Smoker snatches a human then the boomer pukes all over the poeple who come to help.)
Well, there are 4 people playing the Zombie class and there are 4 zombie classes but 1 isn't always available. So there will occasionally be 2 of 1. I don't think there will ever be 2 of 2 classes at once.
This is considering the Director chooses for you.
The only thing I'm worried about now is that the IGN review says that the whole thing can be completed in under two hours, with each campaign lasting 20-30 mins on normal difficulty.
Lame.
Somebody needs to get a forum list up of Steam accounts so we can all play together.
If it's hard for the humans, but both sides play as humans one round, then is it really any more difficult to win?
I really can't wait to be able to play versus, it sounds like a blast. Especially if you're playing with friends who will actually work together.
