Those forumers at NeoGAF have posted up Famicom's latest review scores and it contains the PS3 game White Knight by Level 5. Shockingly (or not?) it didn't get the best or review scores. Listed on there here is the score.
7/7/8/7
That is 29/40. That kind of looks bad, doesn't it? There are a couple bullet points to describe the game.
--lots of optional content
--big boss battles
--simplistic combat
--customizable combos
--is basically like every other Level 5 RPG. Sadness befalls the land.
--Online has chat issues and a reviewer "hopes it will be patched in the future"
Interesting, too bad it doesn't explain why it did poorly. Japan is pretty big on tradition so you don't think they gave it a lower score because it is "basically like every other Level 5 RPG" do you? Maybe it was the online chat.
Eh who knows, could have major slowdowns or framerate issues. If you want to read the limited but additional information like MGSTouch (
I wasn't supposed to be right, it was a joke! Screw you Konami!) then
go here
Also, Famitsu.
If that's the case you have to wonder why weren't they using headsets? I know it's not the 360, but c'mon!
Also I think the combat was meant to be simplified, and touted as a feature. Though you know the Japanese, if it's not a grinding disgaea clone, they're never happy.
I thought they'd just gobble it up
Also, MGStouch eats your soul.
Anyways, old argument I won't continue here.
The Japanese are notoriously against voice chat for some reason. It's a cultural thing I guess. MGSO almost didn't have it at all before they brought it here.
That alone should be enough to get it at least 11/10.
I saw an advertisement over here. You could get one for 250 euro/20 million dollars.
3 7s and and 8 is not a bad score. In fact, its a pretty good score.
His only problem was something to do with saving the game.
@tino: i have no clue... I'm as blindsided by this as you are
I think the game looks pretty neat from an onlookers standpoint. I think the concept that you're merely a support character in the game is a great idea. The main NPC is the guy who can transform into the White Knight, and you're kind of like his battle support. The preview in GI seemed promising, so I hope this is just a bias review from a guy who didn't want to look into the game.
I mean, I installed it to my HD, and it ran ok. No technical issues here. But it was a pretty crap game for the 4 or 5 hours I put into it. Compared to the first 5 hours of Lost Odyssey, it just feels like a very dry, mechanical product.
Though it does admittedly have some very cool ideas.
