Just like Batman got a rejuvenation, so will the Turtles if Kevin Eastman has anything to say about it. And just so you know, this "Turtles Begins" movie will be a LIVE-ACTION feature film! Bring on the rubber suits please!
The animated film TMNT was pretty sweet and warranted enough for a sequel. The toy maker declared it to be a live-action movie for 2010. Since then, the live-action part is no longer on the
main site, BUT the TMNT director still has it a go. He even went as far to post in the
Heavy Metal Forum saying this...
Although the CGI film did well enough to warrant a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better 're-invention' (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film -- like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc.
Also,
There have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original 'first' TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right -- but no official word yet.
Yes, I can dig it...I want to dig it. Roots, ninjas and turtles is what we need. How can you not be excited about this? Let's just hope they don't screw it up when the second one comes out.

If they go back to the source material, that won't be very hard.
The black and white, pre Archie comics/animated show turtles had plenty enough grit for a "reinvention" film.
seriously, do kids really even like the current turtles?
Granted, its stories about a fucking group of turtles and a rat that got gunk on them and transformed into human size and trained in the arts of ninjitsu that Splinter picked up by proxy of being the pet of the skillful Hamato Yoshi. That shit's re-damn-diculous when you think about it.
But the quality and gravity of stories that have been told by the Mirage comic series using the turtles as a medium is surprising, and certainly missed by this ex-comicgeek.
