Oh snap, I went there! Just about everyone who has read my blog undoubtingly knows that I have played/do own/do like the video game known as Turok. Well now is your chance to tell me why I shouldn't like it since it apparently "tarnishes" my opinion.
I am asking you Dtoid community members to tell me why it sucks, why I shouldn't like it, why is it so bad, why did they even bring such a horrible game into existance? Let me hear it!
And no, saying "the demo sucks" or "pictures suck" does
NOT count. I am looking for some legitimate reasons that make playing the game horrible.
Honestly, tell me why it is so bad.
1. lose the shaved head crap
2. decrease armor size by 90% (actually screw armor)
3. have it take place in Pellucidar
4. no more aliens please thanks
5. let me play as the dinosaurs ala L4D versus mode
6. protagonist must be either an awesome native american guy or a scientist like gordon freeman
7. QTEs go in the trash
8. somewhere in the game there needs to be a Panzer Tank vs. T-Rex battle
Why are we needing to justify it anyway. Your particular like or dislike of a game shouldn't pre-dispose you to being unable to have opinions. We can disagree with your opinions, but you shouldn't care, they're your opinions. Caring that someone disagrees with my opinions is like the lowest on totem pole of things that I care about when I ponder what people think of me.
Also, NO FUCKING CEREBRAL BORE?! Balls to that, my friend.
Actually, Yahtzee's review pretty much sums it up. With hilarious (and sexy) results.
I dunno.
Admittedly, I haven't given the new one a chance, but I also haven't tried to wrestle with any wild dogs since the last time one bit me. These both sound like smart decisions.
But the game felt half baked all the way through.
But this, this was NOT Turok. It was retarded. I gave it a chance and wasted my time, because I WAS expecting a REAL Turok game.
The game itself isn't THAT bad. But the fact that it was called Turok just ruined everything.
They had gold and fucking shit all over it. FUCK EM
Also, what Sharpless said.
First Impressions mainly addresses single player.
And then My Review where I talk about the multiplayer mostly.
It brings back childhood memories of the Turok on the N64. They were never the best but I wasn't caught up all this hooplah of the "industry" before and was just having fun. And Turok brought me some fun as I ran on top of a rock with my bow & arrow and sticking people with arrows right and left, followed by me jumping on a raptor with a knife....it was an amazing feeling that I haven't felt in a game in awhile. Cause you know...no games really have dinosaurs.
I think if a sequel was made that they should focus even more on knife play instead of making it a QTE activator, also make the knife mechanics smoother (remember slitting throats in turok 1? good times).
Also, what GuitarAtomik said. :)
Game should of been called QTE, due to the fact that it got extremely old by the 500th time a QTE came up within the first 20 - 30 minutes of the game.
Turok Rage Wars was better than this because it FELT more like a Turok game. I mean, especially since it had more similarities than just dinosaurs and the bow & arrow. :P
The thing is is that Turok brings nothing new to the table. Innovation doesn't always make a good game, but if one's game doesn't intend to add a lot of new things, the old things had better work as well or better than the competition. That didn't happen with this new Turok.
I wouldn't say it tarnishes your credibility any more than my liking Way of the Samurai (god I hope they port the new one to English) does.
I think Turok is a lot of fucking fun and challenging to boot.
i have 1000/1000 on Turok :P
