My/Your first 1000 Achievement Game
BlindsideDork | 12:58 PM on 06.17.2008 60 comments

Constantly I'm ranting about not being an achievement whore but this weekend I played/beat Clive Barker's Jericho for the third time. I saw I almost had them all completed. So I thought why not just get it?

First, I'd like to point out that I could careless about achievements, I didn't replay BioShock after my 360 erased my achievement points. Nor when I got TMNT from Gamefly and the disc had an error, I just stopped at where I couldn't get any further and didn't beat it or get all the points. I never saw the point in them or why everyone needed them.

This weekend, during my third play through, I saw I only had a handful of reasonable achievements (kill 250 with melee and disintegrations which I already had the 100 kills for them) along with one not so reasonable one. Some of these levels are designed to make sure you die and they expect you to beat them without dying! Well I persevered this weekend on my quest to conqueror at least one Xbox 360 game in achievements. And after my adventures what did I get?

A total of 1000 achievement points for one game.

Hmmm, what? I don't know what I was expecting but it seemed so anti-climatic. It's kind of like, "Ok, I did it, now what?" Maybe they could have a game that gives you a reward or at least a special message when you get them all? You know, something to encourage you to get it besides "bragging rights." It was sort of nice in a way and I don't think many can call a claim to fame on such a task (or want to?) but it feels hollow. I doubt I'd find myself doing it again unless it is for a game I absolutely love.

So what was your first 1000 pointer game?

And if you don't feel like discussing it here, hit up the forum post on it.

I don't have one.

I almost got it on Bioshock though; I'm thinking about playing through again.

never really got the itch, but sometimes a specific achievement will catch my eye, and be something i HAVE TO DO. like flawless drumming, or the one in GTA IV where you get your stars up and survive 5 minutes. just benchmarks i woulda set for myself anyway. i've never gotten the poke-itch to catch them all.

I don't have one either. I have the most in Halo 3 though, or Team Fortress 2, if you count it seperate from the rest of The Orange Box.

Also, you need a proofreader, bee-tee-doubleyoo.

I don't have any 1000 achievement games. I do have 1 or 2 200 point arcade games, though.

@galaga

I got that achievement on accident by flying a helicopter into alderney before I unlocked it and then flying around the city while the police were chasing me.

Yeah, I got 960 on BioShock, but that's as close as I've come.

I agree with galagabug, I don't go in for achievements unless they seem awesomely epic.

The closest to 1000 for me is Oblivion.

Halo 3, but it actually gave you armor for the achievements you did get, so that's why I pushed for it.

1000 on King Kong on my old GT, 1000 on TMNT just cause i grew up with them and felt it was necessary to play the game. I didnt know that I had them all till I was done though...Oh and 1000 on Madden 08 just from playing with friends

Probably Enchanted ARMs, which you get for just beating the game. :P But if we're counting other achievements, I got a full 1000 on BioShock.

This is a great blog, surely going to get alot talking. I never got it but nearly on a couple games, as some games have ridiculous achievements. If there wasn't multi player for a lot of games I think I would have a lot of points.

I am a completionist by nature, so that kind of includes being an "Achievment Whore". I am ashamed to say that I played through Phantasy Star Universe all the way just for the 1000 achievments, but I did have high hopes for that game.

I have gone through a few other games like Viva Pinata and Ninety Nine Nights. One of those were my first, just can't remember which.

980/1000 for Halo 3 is my closest for a retail game, and I recently got 200/200 on Streets of Rage 2 for Xbox Live Arcade. I'm usually hovering around the 2/3 achievements completed mark for retail games that I own.

I have quite a few achievements on the "to-do" list, such as the last two for Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, but I just can't bear to play through it another 20 times.

The furthest I ever got to a perfect 1000 was Mass Effect. I burnt myself out before I could finish the rest of the biotic power achievements. Even now, I can't bring myself to play it again since getting the ally achievements was what likely caused the burnout.

Ugh...

Halo 3 is the only 1000/1000 club I belong to, close in BioShock, Lost Via Domus, few others I think.

I'm close in Bioshock and Viva Pinata, but it'll never happen in either.

980 for Lost Odyssey. I normally try to accomplish everything in RPGs as a personal quest. The achievements are there as an added extra. But there's no way in hell I'm getting the extra 20 points for the treasure trove achievement. That's near impossible.

I would have a few. I have Call of Duty 2. Madden 2006, Fight Night round 3. I was going to do it for gun but never got around to it. Dead Rising I got a lot too (including Zombie Genocider) I dont personally go after achivements except for Call of Duty 2, I wanted to prove to my self I could beat that game on Vet :)

My first and only is Crackdown, but that's admittedly with GS points from the expansion pack they released.

I'm really close in some other games (Fight Night Round 3, Tomb Raider Legend, amongst a few others) but I really don't care too much about Achievements. If the game is fun enough to warrant multiple play throughs or whatnot, I may end up shooting for some just to have something new to do when I replay it (like Tomb Raider) but otherwise I play a game once and then I have whatever I have.

Call of Duty 4 was the first complete game. After that was Condemned, but since it only has 970 total points, I don't count it in the completed games.

My first was Bully Scholarship Edition, I enjoyed the hell out of it and did everything you could do, eventually I noticed I was close to 100% so I went for it.

Second was Halo 3, I was missing the Meta campaign and moongoose modown, I was unmotivated to do the meta campaign due to my lack of moongoose modown, by some miracle I got it in a lone wolves match and I finally beat the damn meta campaign and got my 1000/1000.

I know I 1000/1000 a 3rd game but I don't remember the title.
