Last night I was in a grueling match of TF2 and I came across something pecular. My teammates had been saying someone was lagging so bad you couldn't kill them. I didn't think too much of it cause I wasn't seeing it. Then on the third level of Dustbowl, I flamed the supposed "lagger" who was in a corner and next thing I know he is gone.
Wait, where did he go? He was on fire, he didn't die but now he is gone. I go around the corner and he chucks a bunch of grenades in my face.
Normally when this happens you are experiencing lag and it is atrocious to play. The thing is, my gaming experience was running smoothly with no problems. No stutters, to stalls, no lag, nothing. But this one guy was lag, flying all over the place.
This brings up the question, can you lag yourself to make yourself a "better" player by not allowing yourself to get hit. Is this possible? How/why did this happen?!
I know I've never "improved" from lag.
PS: Play PC version with us plz! <3
Also, he wasn't the host. The host was on my team and there is no host advantage in TF2.
But yeah...he was on the other team and you can't kick mid game.
Just one of the dangers of online gaming I'm afraid.
This has actually been a problem in MGO(though the badly written netcode also influences the lag alot).
of course I've never played on a network where lag could give me any sort of advantage without utterly destroying my connection. But I assume it would work somewhat like the slow downs in a megaman esq style game where everyone slows down and you still keep the advantage and can think more about actions before they happen.
I remember people lagging themselves on Counter-Strike Source so they could be impossible to be shot in the head, as the hitboxes went crazy with so much lag.
Bastard.
