Here's a REAL Map Editor to be excited about!
BlindsideDork | 9:11 AM on 08.20.2008 20 comments

I'll be the first to admit that I am not a fan of the voice speaking in the video but that doesn't negate the fact that the FarCry makers have made ANOTHER amazing map editor. Watch it!

Seriously, 360 Far Cry's map editor was amazing and very easy to use. This one looks like it but just a little more complicated and I loved the drop in and test out the map at anytime from the first one and it is just as good in the second. This feature alone should make you want to buy this game. Man, I need to get the original and play on my epic Sniper level!

Maker's ftw!

That looks epic!! Though I wonder if it will be able to maintain the framerate. And if maps are going to be shared they must have a good filesize if anyone is to have a decent collection.

It felt like I was watching one of those altered reality vacation commercials from Total Recall...

"Like sunsets? Heh heh... control them all you want. Go ahead. Watch another one."

Sweet. I love making maps of my high school while listening to marylin manson.

I actually love it when tools like this are available right off the bat. The way you can test it out as you build it reminds me a lot of valve's hammer editor.

@jack sell baby-batter and plasma.

I had a lot of fun with the original Far Cry map editor and this one looks to be even more epic.

I can't believe the map editor will be available on the console versions. A 360 game with that robust of an editor could sell on its own. I'd totally buy a game that was JUST that editor with an FPS multiplayer backbone so every game you played online was someone else's custom map.

Hot damn am I newly excited for this game.

I spent way too much time playing around with TimeSplitters' level creator. I can't even imagine how much of a timesink this one could end up being.

theres gotta be a catch to all this, possibly an install onto the HDD to be able to access the assets instantly.

Talk about in depth, B-Radicates right. The map editor itself could be a game in itself.

@Redzie

Catch? Catch is awesomeness? The original FarCry on the 360 had an extensive Map Creator feature that worked wonderfully. No installing anything.

Just look for a game, join it, if it has a map you don't have, you have to download it and then start.

This is not the TimeSplitters 4 map editor. Your blog title lies.

But this isnt the same team. New engine, new technology. Im not badmouthing the game, im just being a little skeptical. Sorry if skepticism is Hitler in your book.
