We have seen a total of THREE trailers (comprised of cutscenes?) with Chris Redfield in an area that is believed to be Brazil with some maybe/not zombies. Nothing else is available, until NOW!

Hooray for the return of Resident Evil 4 gameplay! It is great and if you don't like it, you just suck. And yes it looks pretty, you see that oh so pretty hair action?

Accompanying this is some text heavy content in Japanese that I can't translate. Along with this though, some content has be published by IGN and 1Up but here is a short bulleted version.



-The game is set 10 years after Raccoon City, meaning it will be "present day" by the time it comes out.

-Chris Redfield is the main protagonist, now working for an organisation called the BSAA (as denoted by the patch on his uniform).

-BSAA's goals are unclear. Not known if Chris is fighting for good or evil.

-Events in Chris's past that took place between RE1 and RE5 will be broached.

-Lighting effects simulate the transition from light places to dark places, similar to how Half Life 2 used HDR.

-RE5's gameplay same as RE4's, plus extra features.

-A returning female character will be shown in the next trailer. She will feature heavily in the gameplay, i.e. be playable.

-Enemies are not Zombies or Ganados, but are in fact even more "human-like". My take on this is that they're the same as Ganados, except they can run.




Non-Zombies, non-Ganados...so it is as reviewers of the FIRST trailer said, people from the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Not as good as the original but I can deal with it. And example of this lighting was described this way, "as Chris enters a building, his eyes has to gradually adjust to the dark indoors. The same can be said with the opposite where stepping out from a dark place would cause glare to his eyes." That sounds pretty sweet.

More than one playable character? Sweet! I believe all of the games after Resident Evil had more than one playable character so this isn't that big of a surprise, more of confirmation of RE tradition. And who is this character? Well expect a TRAILER to reveal this female in the FULL version of the E3 trailer this month (July 27?) that will be on XBL and PSN. Speculate in the comments, you can see mine and others there too...

But the single WORST part about all of this. In the interview with the screenshot, Takeuchi said that a 2008 release was very UNLIKELY so expect it 2009. What the heck I am pissed. Can I really go one year without RE action?
