This movie has been an ordeal and half for me. It sickens me to see what I have been through. For starters, I pre-ordered it from Amazon on September 20th (let this be a lesson, DON'T pre-order from Amazon if you want it realitvely soon). Then the week of Halloween came when it was supposed to be released. Usually I get good shipping speeds with Amazon, that wasn't the case this time.
A week had passed and they still hadn't shipped my product. I emailed them and they said, "you qualified for the 'FREE Super Saving Shipping' deal so you don't get it right away." That last part was paraphrased but they general ideal is cause I had free shipping, I can't complain about when it was shipped or how long it would take. I can understand the speeding of the shipping being on the slow side but not actually SHIPPING the product!
The following week it finally came in the mail. I was still frustrated so I put off watching the movie. A few days later I realized it comes with a "Portable Digital Copy." That was good to hear, I could watch it on the train to work. Good times!
Hmmm, why wouldn't it work? No pop-up promopt when you put in the disc. Nothing. What's the problem? I had no troubles with
Rambo and
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army digital copies, they actually worked too easily. So I went to look at the CD in the computer. It was there and I could see the files inside...wait a minute, it's
PC ONLY?! What's this garbage? Desperately I searched through the contents of the disc and only found one file, a ".wmv" file. That's right a Windows Media Video file. Why? WHY?!
Who is the genious at Anchor Bay who thought it was a good idea to put only a PC compatible digital copy? Also, iPods cannot play wmv files. Now some of you wonder what the big deal is, but when you have written on your box "
Portable Digital Copy Included" or anything that says digital copy, doesn't the iPod/iTunes spring to mind? What did they make this Bluray exclusively for PC users? That is bad planning and bad thinking.
Being the complainer that I am, I emailed them and emailed them and they are probably sick of me by now. But a person did email me a generic/computer message about the digital copies. It reads:
1) If you are receiving a "unlock code" prompt, please note that the digital copy is only available for two downloads and is only allowed to be downloaded once on a single/same PC. Currently the digital download is only available for PC/Windows not Mac. If you have not downloaded at all and are still having problems, you will have to contact Sony's customer service by clicking on the "support" button at the bottom of the digital download screen and filling out the information. They should be able to provide you with the reasoning regarding your issue and provide an appropriate solution.
2) If you are attempting to download to a Mac or iTunes, we are still working on a solution to this. Please be patient and we will get back to you.
That was on November 20th. No word yet...this is unprofessional. Is it really that hard to put an MP4 file on a disc? I guess so.
But I finally got to watching the movie this weekend. I was expecting a prequel to go along with the story and was greeted with a worthless cartoon. For the most part it didn't look good and second off it was entirely pointless. It didn't show how the Marker really took over. All it showed was people going mad then killing others and the "bats" coming from no where infecting everyone. It did show a bunch of people dying and one doctor trying to stop it all only to be foiled. But other than that the whole 75 minute animated feature could've been summed up in 10 minutes or a quick saying like "they found the marker which made people freak out and everyone died from the creatures. Also, religious fanatics." -End- But no, that isn't good enough. They barely even showed Nicole. What a wasted!
I also pondered one other thing after the movie concluded. Where are my cheat codes as promised on the box? I checked all the features and nothing. Back to emailing and my response brings back that they are hidden. One is a Easter Egg and the other is in the movie...I can't believe I have to watch this movie again just to see what lame cheat code they put in there. Maybe it will make my health lights more blue.
It feels like a long frustrated road that I should just give up. But I paid for that gosh darn digital copy and I want my gosh darn digital copy on my iPod! It is the principle of the fact. I will get it cause they haven't heard the last of me!
2. Tough shit friend, majority of users out there have pc's. While I'm sure it would have been a nice gesture, they aren't required to put a .mp4 digital copy on their disc. Even then you should be blaming apple for making the ipod so fucking gay that it can't only play .mp4's where almost every other portable video player can play a large amount of formats.
The first time it said it was going to take over 60 hours. The second time I tried it left me with a green screen...copy protection bastards.
And yeah, my fault for buying an iPod...but it actually works exactly how I want to and very much well fits in with my iMac I got 2 years ago.
Yea this movie was very entertaining I must say, owning it on Bluray might be a good pic since its been a while of a good non-anime movie to come out.
apparently it doesn't :P
Tried to get into the film, but it felt so empty. Like an angsty child wanting to be loved, yet it was still disliked because it wanted to fight. (and that bugs me)
How does someone enjoy a feature like this?
A) you must be wasted
B) Very bored
C) because its there
Blindside, sorry to hear about its messy arrival. Plus the lost promise of extra content (consider it another lesson learned).
