all I can say is ewwwww, it looks like its going to suck big time. So glad I decided against getting it at the supermarket today.

great concepts behind the game. but i think it'll fail in execution

I heard the controls cripple the experience. Im thinking of renting it, but i dont think it justifies a full purchase.

I have to admit I was always interested in playing this, but after they announced the stupid episode thing, my interest waned. That just sounds like an awful idea. I'm still going to play it, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

I still plan on buying the PS3 version, when it is eventually released.

here's my mini review... well not really, just few things to say about it..


The game's good, it's not like the previous alone in dark games.
I wouldn't call the game a survival horror game, it'm more like an adventure game with a thrill. So don't wait for the lightening scene from alone in the dark 4 :P ...

but that doesn't make it a bad game, it has all the right elements which you saw on many of it's trailers. The gameplay is awesome at the most parts but sometimes it feels unbalanced.... like sometimes it's just too frigging easy...
but other times you'll die and die all over again.

the linear parts of the game are perfect (is you don't expect the original feeling of alone in the dark)
everything just well placed, I really like the the way you got to work your way through some places though I really miss the whole original AiTD feeling..

the walking in the park is what I think they've screwed up...
it supposed to be scary and tension building but when there are enemies every few meters,.. there's no way to build that creey feeling/ tension...

another thing it is missing from original AiTD series are
the little clues and documents giving background story,
there are the PDA messages but you don't feel like earning those in any way.
another bad thing about this AiTD is what I call the unlimited health sprays and other in some storage areas.....
... I really liked the running low on ammo feeling in survival horror games.....


but then again.. AiTD isn't one....
If you want to enjoy it, take a big marker/stift and write
Central Dark on the Disc :Pv.. ow yeah.. and be open minded
there's really a lot going on for this game...
lots of epic rewarding moments...

they've got the whole episodic thing going on
and cool characters (will remind of LOST series :P )

btw. about the controllers.. I've got an 5 button gaming mouse and an g15 kboard so controlls for me weren't issue at all, but I can imagine someone cursing the game when playing it on x360 controller :D ...

I'm going to buy this, pray that everyone speaks wrongly of it, and hope that I don't suffer a gaming crisis because the games that I want to be good just can't seem to sate me anymore.

If this sucks, I've only got SH5 to look forward to, and nobody seems to be excited about that. I've been actively avoiding reading any info about it, just in hopes that I can keep my expectations low (after all, SH4 definitely lowered the bar quite a bit!).

I read on a few sites that it was pretty decent, but then again, I never really trust reviews. Lol. I'm kind of anxious to see Gametrailers review it though. Only because you actually get to see the game in motion for a lengthy period of time. It still looks very questionable at this point, at least to me it does. I guess we'll see what happens. I am hoping it's decent.

So wait... you telling me it WON'T have Carnby vs. Spock on the back of Falkor? Damn, now I have no interest!

In all seriousness, though... it never looked that great. Sure, it had a few ideas, but the opening your jacket and staring at what is essentially the Edward Carnby utility belt just seemed tacked on and, frankly, kind of disorienting. I'll still play it (I did promise a review), but in all honesty... I don't have much hope.
