2009 is just beginning and in about a month it'll be kicking into full gear and taking no mercy. Will you be ready? Will you have the right console to ride, or will you be passed you by?
I just saw a list of the most anticipated games of 2009 and it was kind of interesting to see what they put down. Of course not all the games are guaranteed to come out in 2009 and some might appear out of no where and be released this year but these are the big hitters that everyone knows. Only I see some issues with the list.

One of the first things to notice, the Wii actually has a good number of games that aren't complete shovelware. Sure, some gamers might think poorly about
Wii Sports Resort but it is a good game to bust out when the ladies come over. Just saying...
The second thing I noticed is the Xbox 360 lineup. There is something wrong with this picture. If you noticed, some titles are italicized. I did this to all multiplatform titles. Half of the most anticipated titles are multiplatform. On top of that, one of those five exclusives is an
expansion pack and one is not actually a game but just DLC. I don't know the size of the DLC and it could be large but it is still just DLC and not actually a game. Plus, is
Alan Wake really ever going to come out? I mean c'mon!
Now when you look at the PS3 line-up, they did list two multiplatform games but I suppose that is expected. But take the strong the PS3 line-up and throw in the rest of the 360 multiplatform games and well it seems like win.
About this time it would probably look like I am 360 bashing. I admit it does, but I am solely going by this list that Edge put out. To be fair, I am curious about
Halo Wars and how it plays. Of course that was if consoles weren't complete fail with the RTS genre. And if the system didn't crash on me everytime I turn it on.
So either MS doesn't have many public known exclusives coming out this year or they blew their wad last year with them. Only time will tell but I will admit that I am glad to own all the systems this year, no matter how little use they get!
So how do these lists stack up with you? Do you got the right console?
Also, DLC listed as most anticipated? What's this madness. And if that's the case, how about that paid Burnout "ZOMGITSBACKTOTHEFUTURE" DLC?
That Wii List does look like a list of hope though.
If those aren't in with a chance of being the 3 games of the year, I'll eat my hat.
I think Alan Wake has a better chance of coming out than Duke Nukem Forever does.
Then there's the "could be good games" like the new Turltes fighter, Sonic and the Black Night, and the Dead Rising remake. As Dtoid's main Wii reviewer, I'm going to be damn busy this year.
And don't even get me started on all the WiiWare games coming in 2009.
I don't doubt it... But in terms of what the general gamer thinks, I think those games, if they are actually as good as they should be, are in with a shout of cleaning up.
That said, you never know what is going to be announced this year... I'm sure Microsoft has plans that we don't know about.
As for the Wii, well.... that looks like a tasty line-up. Maybe many will be eating their hats and their words this year.
Looking forward to the Wii offerings as well as RE5 wherever I end up playing that.
Part of it has to do with my four RRoD. It annoyed me and I had a PS3 so I thought I tried it out. Played a few multi-platform games on the PS3 and it played without a hitch so there was no biggy. The only issue was "achievements" but since I don't care about them...I don't care. And now that PS3 has trophies, it is a mute point. I got Dead Space on PS3 and it played how I wanted it to play.
Also, I don't like a lot of the people I have come across in Live. And I know people say only play with friends, but I don't always have someone online. And those who are, aren't playing anything I care about.
Graphically, HDMI(PS3) > Component(360) and I've never been wowed/amazed by any of my 360 games but I have been wowed/amazed many times with my PS3 and its games. But I think that has to do with the cable. It is probably a mute point to compare graphics nowadays between the two with multiplatform. They are pretty much the same. And actually more developers are using the PS3 as lead platform now (Dead Space, Mirror's Edge).
My PS3 has treated me exceptionally well, my 360 hasn't.
Really? You are still holding hope for TF2 DLC on 360? I've given up that dream long ago. It would be hefty if it was real.
Thank God I've got one.
All the lineups look pretty strong though. That's for sure.
I'd stick Infamous on there too, but I can't afford a PS3, and I'm still unsure about whether Prototype will live up to my expectations or not.
And Sony's been saying it for ages now - it's almost become a joke in of itself - but if all those ambitious titles do turn out to be as kickass as the hype surrounding them, '09 might yet become the year of the PS3.
I predict Wii Sports Resort will still sell like hotcakes regardless though.
moot - of no importance
Worst. list. Ever.
