Wow, I nearly exploded when I watched this video. Someone made a video song about a special Metroid to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon. Oh and it is a chick singer which is always good in my book, as long as they can sing and she can. Can I marry her now? Don't worry, Samus won't get jealous.
Now I am a manly man. I love running around with a chainsaw in Gears of War, blowing people to pieces with a rocket launcher and so on. But these pictures fill me with so much SQUEEE, I can't bare it. You have to check them out...
I know right? Wallpaper sized ones can be found here.
There are some details also spilled out on the table including:
- Co-op is online AND offline.
- Inside & Outside environments (split evenly about).
- 720p
- Hard and Ultar Hard modes.
- Nectar is the only enchancements.
- Takes place over three long days and nights.
- ZERO LOAD TIMES!
- No "levels" but 12 "places."
- SIXAXIS controls: life threatening situations (ie: pull out knife, extinguish flames on you, throw grenade when overdosed).
New videos and trailers, man this game is being plastered everywhere. I think I know why though. This is perhaps Rare's last chance at "redemption" and honestly They are going to need it.
I guess I should preface this with the fact that I have never touched a Banjo game ever. Never once. Not cause of hate but just cause, never tried it. So when I watched the HD trailer, I had zero expectations. The first thing I noticed is the beauty. The massive world was so pretty, it was nice. Then I thought, what do you do in the game?
Seriously, what is going on? As far as I can tell, you run around a big open world (one of five) and pick up pieces to add to your vehicle (which represents 80% of the game) and adapt it to drive/fly around the map. It looks pretty but the gameplay doesn't have me sold one bit. Seems deep and shallow at the same time, if that makes any sense. And then when I saw the latest video and some of the things they said on the game made me chuckle.
Did he just say they got tired of making Banjo games? They made an HD Banjo game and didn't like it because it was "tedious." So they made a game with this idea instead. But if you thought that was bad, I think I laughed pretty hard when they said "we don't want to waste the franchise" at the end there. Waste the franchise? It could be just me but it sounds like they made a Banjo game but didn't like it and made this other vehicle game instead. But given their recent track record, they knew it wouldn't sell so they threw in their old Banjo characters and changed a few small things to make it meld. Well they aren't "wasting" the franchise, they are using it.
It's probably just me. I mean every platformer sooner or later turns into a free-roaming racer. To be fair, both version involve collecting...but that is all I am giving it.
Perhaps you may or may not be familiar with Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword. But you should, it is fun (despite feeling like you are going to kill your screen). And if you have seen any commericials for the game, you have seen him, the Urban Ninja. Watch him in action...
It isn't cryptic, it is as it is. Early talks are floating around and the apparent "Magneto Prequel" might have a familiar face with a younger twist...and a tail? Wait, are they serious?
Hank McCoy (Beast) is in it. There was even a production drawing seen of a young version of him, but with a TAIL. Young Beast was a normal human, not a tailed person. Immediately everyone jumped and said, "no, you n00b, that waz teh Nightcrawler, lulz." But there was audio with the drawing that said the name BEAST.
Holy monkey what are they trying to do to us? What are they trying to do to my X-Men. Was it not bad enough that X3 was a big, steamin' pile of poo'?
He hinted at it last week when he did the mailbag, this week he tackles the game that most of you are playing and playing and playing. Will he enjoy it or find something wrong like he normally does with games?
Oh snap...PS3 hate!
PS: NO MARIO KART WII REVIEW, do I smell a heap of mail coming his way?
Maybe you saw the trailer, maybe you didn't. If the latter come on in and pull up a seat. It's warmed up for you along with a little reading material. It's like Sin City meets No More Heroes meets a whole heck lot of blood.
There was a reason why all the other videos were taken down. It has to do with NDA's and "a copyright claim by Sega of America." SEGA is publishing Platinum Games' game? CONFIRMED. They are also publishing two other games for Platinum Games which include Infinite Line (DS sci-fi RPG) and Bayonetta ("Stylish action game with witch battling angels").
Famitsu is even reporting the game now with scans.
Why did they cut off half of the scan? Boo! But if you want to see a bigger version, click here.
There are some details listed that may or may not know already are as follows.
- black and white game world, red blood
- action game with ‘comical’ ultra-violence
- “Cheerful violence” and “Curb Brawler”
- main character carries the burden of his past on his shoulders, and must deal with his killing ways
- Director - Shigenori Nishikawa
- no official Japanese release date at this time
If that doesn't cheer you up, I don't know what will. Oh and did I forget to mention you have a CHAINSAW FOR AN ARM!?
Apparently it is awesome according to the IGN guys. This game needs to be out. I can only play Defend Your Castle and House of the Dead 2 & 3: The Return so much!
Besides the game apparently being epicly awesome and the next reason to own a Wii, there is another reason you should buy the game. Hey, we don't want it being the next Zack & Wiki, do we? Check this video out to see custom made Mega Man.
I can't wait to try this game out this weekend. NARP ftw!
One of the few WiiWare titles released, Defend Your Castles is by XGen Studios and was formerly a Flash game. With a budget price of 500 Wii points, how is the little sucker and is it worth half the price of LostWinds?
The menu is super basic. Start, continue (only if you played the game before), and credits. Obviously I had to start afresh and it starts off incredibly simple and easy. So much that I was wondering what the heck I was doing and what the point of it all was. But since I ponied up the money, I thought I'd try some more, especially after seeing epic videos of action.
Not sure which level it was, but things started to get intense. With each kill you get points which can be used to fortify your castle and build additions. There is a pit of conversion to turn enemies into friendly soldiers and four towers with their own specialty. The pillars break down like this: Archery, Magic, Rebuilding, and Demolitions. Of the four, only two are user controlled. Archery and Rebuilding do their own thing. But with all of them, you used captured soldiers from the conversion pit to upgrade your towers.
Magic and Demolitions is a different story. When you click on the Demolitions tower with a new recruit, he runs out into crowd with an explosive (cap gun round) that you can use to make everyone go Ka-Boom! This can't be upgraded but used as long as you got soldiers. Magic towers are a whole different beast that uses the control pad. You start off with the Eraser tool (down direction). It erases ANY enemy you point at. It takes a little while to recharge but with more upgrades, the faster it recoups.
And this is only single player!
When you add 35 units to that particular tower, a new ability is unlocked. Transfer (right direction) is the best way to describe it. It immediately turns any opposing member onto your team. And when you throw 100 troops up there to work, you get the bomb power. It is basically what it sounds like. A Bomb (left direction) at your disposal. Now I don't know If there is an ability for up direction but I am at 200+ soldiers and yet to get it. But I will tell you this, definitely make sure you have enough troups in your rebuild tower.
The controls are basic and simple. The gameplay are basic and simple. Regardless, it is so darn fun! Addicting fun game is addicting and fun. Part of this love does come from the art direction they took. Clouds float by that are held up by strings. Line figures are animated and react to be hit, picked up, dropped, and thrown. Take a look at the differences they made from the original Flash version to the new version:
I think there could be a marginal difference if you haven't noticed by now.
With the art the "characters" even come complete with their own sound effects which includes death. Is it so bad that I enjoyed the screams and little squish sounds emitting from their lined bodies? Of course there is man-made explosion sound effects that take you back to days of young and makes you smile.
The game plays great, sounds great, looks great, and just is great. It is so nicely done, no jaggies or anything. It looks marvelous in 480p on a Widesceen HDTV. If all the WiiWare games are set to look and play like this, I have a feeling I will be buying more.
Now with all this fapping and goodness, there are some flaws. Two to be exact. The first one is something that is probably prevelant in most WiiWare titles. There is no proper instructions. There is a brief description but to view something more detailed, it will take you out of the game and to the Shop Channel where you must connect to the internet. That is pretty fail. Luckily the game is pretty simple and doesn't cause to much harm.
The other problem is the controls. It works, nothing is broken but your wrist might be. After awhile your wrist will get a little sore from flicking all of the sticks into the air. It can be annoying. Of course you can either take this as a way to tell you not to play as much and only in short bursts or try throwing them around in new ways (ie: use your whole arm).
But so far, it has been $5 well spent. I can't wait to try out the multiplayer at the MD/DC/VA NARP this weekend at Hitogoroshi's place. It says friends can jump in at anytime and the game auto-adjusts the difficulty immediately depending on how many people are playing. Now that is just sweet.
I am not talking about the incredible and perfect Uncharted: Drake's Fortune game. I mean like a classic point and click game. It was a reality during the beginning stages of its development and then eventually became what it is now.
Lucky for us, during its beta days there were some videos of it in action. The game had the user pointing a cursor around to direct the little robot that could around the world. Take a look for yourself.
The setting and story was different, but it was these videos shown to Miaymoto that made him fall in love with the character and they choose to scrap the control type. Here's some more video.
The YouTube description includes a lot more information on the game and beta stages.
So first off, how many of you played Chibi-Robo? And would you rather it be this other style of play? It would be like Zack & Wiki but on the GameCube. This game probably would've appealed to a lot more people if it was a different style of play. You know those point-and-click junkies are always itching for something new/good to play.
