You guys remember MadWorld? Let me try to jog your memory: All black and white, full of blood and gore, had awesome voice work and music, a little short, and a must-play Wii game. There you go! Now if you know about MadWorld, you must know about No More Heroes, right? They were similar, but still very different. Well, there was one BIG difference I just can't get over: NMH got a sequel, MadWorld didn't.
Now I'm not saying NMH was a bad game, I just liked MadWorld more. That's it. That's all. This is not about me not liking a good game, this is about preference and MadWorld getting a sequel. Now that I've got that out of the way, we can begin.
1. MadWorld had a story that didn't end.
It's stated in the game by 13 that as long as there are people, there will be conflict. And in many respects, this is true. Which is way it makes perfect sense for MadWorld to get a sequel; The violence will never end. You can't stop it anymore than you can stop time. And speaking of time, the next MadWorld game could involve an earlier DeathWatch game, taking place during Jack's first three games or possibly putting players in the shoes of Kreese Kreely, an former-contestant-turned-announcer. Or it could take place in the future, involving Jack's son in the mess. In any case, there are plenty of possibilities. Not making a sequel with the excuse of running out of ideas is, well, inexcusable, I guess...
You just can't say no to those eyes, can you?
2. Jack is too good to put down.
Jack Cayman as a character is very well-designed. The player's perception of him changes alot throughout MadWorld; At first, he seems to be a mindless, greedy, madman like the rest of the contestants. Then he seems to be a man guided only by justice, determined to stop the murder of innocent people only for the entertainment of the rich. And at the end of the game players learn that Jack wasn't competing to stop the destruction of Jefferson Island, he was in it to kill. And that was really it.
Chances are that without a sequel, Jack will fade into the pool of defuct game characters. And with any luck, will be one of top-status. Within a few years, people will probably say 'Hey do you remember MadWorld? I bought it used and I thought it was pretty good. I can't figure out why it didn't get a sequel. Oh well...'
3. Sequels always make money.*
If people see a sequel for MadWorld, chances are they'll think that the first game wasn't as bad as they heard, and will think 'Well if it's it's good enough for a sequel it can't be that bad.' And chances are they'll buy it with that mentality. Y'know what else sequels mean? If you said merchandise, you're correct! Shirts, toys, soundtracks, MadWorld 2 could do all that and more! And you know someone out there will recreate Jack's motorcycle if there's a sequel.
*This statement has not been measured against any standards.
Jack toys with customized chainsaw blades? A-FUCKING-PROVED.
4. Platinum Games could fix the formula.
Now do you remember how MadWorld was kind of repetitive? It was like playing Man Darts and hitting the 20 just above the bullseye. Think about it, Platinum Games could fix the mistakes they made with the original! Add a few different angles for signpost stabs and finishers, and suddenly, it's like a new experience in mayhem each time!
5. References!
Platinum Games could stick in loads of references to other titles! For example, there could be enemies resembling Bayonetta, or Gene from God Hand. And, well, I don't know right now, but there could be plenty of references in this game.
6. The Black Muthafuckin' Baron: Stop Starin.'
Admit it, you wanna see more of this guy just as much as I do. He can get his ass kicked as many times as Matilda and Jack are able, (Which is a metric SHITLOAD.) but he's just gonna get back up again.
So what do you think? Should MadWorld get a sequel, or should it be banished to replays only? Please keep in mind:
