What led to the conception of Psychonauts and Brutal Legend? Do you have a specific creative process or do you come up with these flashes of brilliance on the toilet?
What would one ask God?
I've got one.
"Which game are you the most proud of? No cop-out answers like "all of them" or "Well, of course Brutal Legend which is coming out this Rocktober to next gen consoles!"
Which one are the most proud of the work you did and why. What did YOU like about it?
Jesus, that was a mess. Forgive my jumbled grammar. You know what I'm getting at, Ben.
Bonus question, How many wolves have to die for me to get a job at DoubleFine?
I don't really have a serious question unless you consider "Were you high when you had the idea for Psychonauts? And if so, you should get high more often. That game is the shit"
This man is a fucking genius.
Ask him, if there are any Activision characters that they mock in the game? I doubt he is that petty but it would still be funny to run into a guy named Bony Fawx and then murder him.
How Brutal is Brutal Legend? Can you melt enemies faces with the guitar spells?
What is his view on the point-and-click adventure game genre today? Does he have any plans for any new games in that genre?
How much corned beef does he think he could eat in an hour, because I can probably eat more? Follow up question: How does that make you feel Mr. Schafer?
Do you test your games on animals?
or
When you are in the midst of doing creative things at work or for leisure, do you have music on? If so, what is usually being played? Did that have any influence while making Brutal Legend?
You can pick whatever you want. I won't spam your blog with angry messages if you pick the bottom one as far as you know.
Have a good time!
Why is there a ¨ in Brütal Legend (I mean , it doesn't change to sound or anything ...) ?
Why do most sites take the ¨ out of Brütal Legend?
Do you use electric shavers or good ones?
Will you ever do a 2D game again?
Do you have any plans of making another point-n-click adventure game?
Is there any chance of downloadable titles from Double Fine appearing in a near future?
Will you use the guitar + battle axe combination the whole game or there will be even more weaponry?
Oh , and if you said the username before the question it would be greatly appreciated
Naim Master:
Oh, of course hunnybunch ;)
Who would win in a fight, a bear or a shark?
To even up the odds, the bear would have a rebreather like in Star Wars and a laser gun if it is fought underwater, or the shark would have lungs, a trenchcoat, and dual uzi's if it were fought on land.
Gary Busey is the wild card in both of these fights. If Gary Busey became involved in the fight, who would he help to win? Or would he kill them both by pulling their endocrine system out of their body and claiming the victory for himself.
Can we expect more umlauts in your games in the future?
We know you've worked in many different styles (point-and-click, platformer, and now rock-and-roll-adventure-action-with-some-Pikminesque-elements), but are there any genres or game types you have no interest in?
I would ask him what he thinks of Ben PerLee's sister. I heard she is hot.
Seriously though... I would ask him "What the hell is your problem? Look at yourself."
Heres one that might bring out an interesting response:
Have you had any ideas for a game's story/mechanics that you felt were just too crazy, even by your standards? If so, what were some of these ideas that will never see the light of day?
btw I'm jealous of you Ben :)
Also ask him if he named the lead character from Full Throttle after you as part of a precognition to your fateful meeting this week.
Have you ever seen "Event Horizon"? I'm watching it right now, and it's pretty badass.
Also, what is the ratio of classic metal to to more modern day metal featured in Brütal Legend?
What Daedhead said, so I might have to think about it for a bit.
@Naim
An ¨ does change the sound. Ask Arnold Schwarzenegger pronounce Brutal and Brütal. You'll see. Or hear rather.
Tell him that his breath smells nice and ask what toothpaste he uses.
Tim worked on games in the days when a real demographic didn't exactly exist - I mean, it did, but there wasn't the capacity for immediate feedback on games and audience opinion like there is now, and thusly the pressure of meeting your audience's expectations must have been felt differently by game designers.
The freedom in making NES games in the late 80s early 90s must be completely different in the freedom that is in making games these days. How does he view his demographic/target audience differently now versus then? Have expectations changed? How so? Does he feel that the internet as a medium of expression has affected the way we make games? He would know.
God damn I am jealous of you meeting this man.
If I were to get a girl to suck you off then afterwards kiss her would the awesomesause she has just consumed pass on to me or would her head just explode before I got the chance?
Or you could just take the direct route and ask him WHAT THE HELL KIND OF DRUG IS HE ON!?!? IS IT HIMSELF!?! IS IT HIS HAIR!?!?
Are you a dapper dan man?
What game that you didn't make would you like to have had a hand in developing, either for improvement or because you would love to be associated with it?
I would ask him if I could suck his dick so I could have a little bit of a god inside of me.
Ok I got one. When he is sitting down to design a new game, what are the steps he takes to get the creative juices going? Or does he only design a game if he gets the idea naturally?
@Daedhead
That's a question I really want to be answered by him. I'm curious about that too.
"You wouldn't have an extra copy of Grim Fandango hanging around, would you?"
"You wouldn't have TWO extra copies of Grim Fandango hanging around, would you?"
Fixed.
"I do this podcast with this guy called Peter Silk. He is 27 but... would you like to adopt him? He'd be ever so good."
How much would Tim have to be paid to finally play Monkey Island 3 & 4?
Do you think that Psychonauts and Brutal Legend will have the same lasting appeal such as The Secret of Monkey Island and Full Throttle?
What do you think your next game will be?
