GTA for Nintendo. DS gets exclusive GTA game

From Nintendo's E3 page:

"In the portable category, Nintendo DS remains on top. Nintendo DS has sold more than 70 million worldwide. Third-party publishers continue to take advantage of that installed base. Coming this winter exclusively to the Nintendo DS is Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, a new entry in Rockstar Games’ award-winning and hugely successful Grand Theft Auto franchise."

What does everyone think. Another game in the style of the PSP's Liberty City Stories games, or perhaps some unique DS features. Touch screen drive-bys anyone?

Let's hope it gets ported to the wii, that would really be cool.

We all know it will be a success, but I think by porting it to the wii, Rockstar will have a new market. EVERYBODY knows about GTA. Even the 'casual gamers'.

It will probably be At a 45 degree angle shooter. I don't see how else they can do it without it being like the GBA version.

ehhhh. When I have GTA4, I really can't see stepping backwards in time to a GTA that can play on the DS. Plus it's not really a game I want to play on the go.

I hope they DON'T port it to the Wii. We already have enough PS2 ports; the last thing we need is N64 ones!

Hmmm, 2.5d graphics like GTA2 would be fucking sweet for the DS! Bring back the top down view!!!

How many times has Nintnedo claimed that a GTA game wouldn't appear on a Nintendo console. I clearly remember some bigwig saying to the effect of, "You'll never see Mario jacking cars and shooting hookers."

Looks like even the Big N couldn't afford to lose out on the sales behemoth that GTA remains to be (even if IV's were a little undeserved).

@ B-Radicate: Nintendo never claimed there wouldn't be a GTA game on a Nintendo system (in fact, it's already happened on the GBA as I mentioned in my first comment). What they were saying is you won't see the character Mario running around jacking cars and shooting hookers, ie they wouldn't create a violent M-rated Mario game to make him more "edgy".
