About Me
The name is Brent. I currently live among the residents of Virginia Beach, Virginia. I like liquor, women, fighting, poker, and of course video-games. I am overly sarcastic which many mistake as me being an asshat. I currently do not own any next-gen systems due to money constraints but in due time my friends. In due time.

I used to write for GameCube Advanced, an old site back in the day. They are currently known as the Advanced Media Network now. I sometimes believe I have a Video-Game system as a heart, my arms are the controllers, and I feed on shitty published titles (such as Superman 64). Video-gaming is a way of life and much of the Destructoid community knows this.

I <3 you DESTRUCTOID.

One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Favorite Game: I Guess Part 1
Beer Baron Brent | 2:50 PM on 12.15.2007 5 comments

So I was thinking recently about some games I used to have back in the day that everyone seemed to dislike. So I thought I would go through a few games I enjoyed that others thought were trash. This isn't to reflect how EVERYONE felt about these games, just the games I owned that friends didn't like, but I loved.

First up is Army Men: Sarge's Heroes for the 64.

Sure this game wasn't a classic, but I loved playing as toy soldiers in a giant world. The single-player was frustrating but still enjoyable to me. The real meat of this game was the multi-player though. Roaming around on "Uncle Al's" couch and blasting away at my friends as they sat next to me cursing my exceptional Army Men skills was quite a riot. Maybe I am just a sucker for "rat" type maps. But this game still holds dear to my gaming heart. Too bad my Vietnamese neighbor borrowed it one day and then moved to Florida the next. Damn you!!

Tail of the Sun for the PS1

Now this game is completely full of win. My friends and little brothers played this and hated it, but I fell in love with it. You are a caveman and your goal is to find mammoth tusks to create a sort of bone ladder to the sun above. You got to kill crazy dinosaur creatures, eat food, and randomly fall asleep as you tried to run from evil beasts. There was a vast world to explore full of ruins and the such. It was just a great game to experience. Too bad I was too young to notice just how rare this game was, I ended up trading it for two PS2 games (DOA2 and Silent Scope). Oh how I regret that decision.

Ok so I was gonna write up more but I became extremely hungry while talking about caveman food so I guess I'll just make this the first part of more to come. Btw... if you have Tail of the Sun.... how much you want for it? =]

Sarges Heroes was another crappy 'Army Men' game in my view. Oh and I remember playing Tail of the Sun somewhere at some time.... I just can't put my finger on it.

I thought Sarge's Heroes was mediocre but fun...I mean I did beat it so it was fun enough.

As for Tail of the Sun, my friend had it and showed it to me just a few years ago so naturally it has aged a lot, and I just couldn't get into it. It seemed really random to me.

The worst experience ever was renting Tail of the Sun and not getting a manual or anything. I had NO idea what the fuck was going on.

I got up to the part in Sarge's Heroes where you had to cover that one guy with the minesweeper while he did his thing but could never beat it. He'd always die for no reason, without fail.
