I can’t believe it’s been over a year since my previous and only blog post. I thought it would be appropriate however, to reflect on the year I’ve had with the lovely people at Dtoid UK (& Europe) before continuing to possibly contribute more to the community blogs.

In this last year I have been whole-heartedly welcomed into the warm and friendly bosom of the lovely Dtoid UK crowd and have been lucky to attend several events such as MCM Expo, which was my first time meeting these weird internet people.

We had a lot of fun - admittedly more of it was outside of the Expo at the various drinking and eating destinations! I felt completely welcome and accepted into the already established group of people, which I was not expecting at all. They even felt comfortable enough to laugh at my embarrassing moments, which unfortunately happen a lot.

From then on I felt part of the group and went along to meals, birthdays, more drinking and more embarrassment, and Eurogamer of course, in October, which was a whole weekend of Dtoid madness.

The main point I am trying to make here is that destructoid is probably one of the only groups that I have joined recently that has such an overwhelming sense of community. It actively welcomes new people into the group, and the friends that I have made along the way are hopefully ones that I will hold onto for a long time.

The time and effort that goes into organizing such big groups of people is never an easy one, but it all seems to come together to enable great times with fantastic people, and for that I must thank our community manager Hollie, who makes it all work so well and devotes any time she has outside of catching babies to keeping us updated and organized in upcoming events. You are truly a superwoman!

So here is to a fantastic and truly memorable year at Dtoid, and I know that there will be many more to come <3

A wonderful blog! So many happy faces in those pictures! :)
Awesome. Kind of hoping I can show up at EuroNARP as it looks a damn awesome time.
You know everytime I see a post like this, and there have been quite a few, I think to myself: "maybe I should try all this FNF, NARP or stuff like that?"

But then I remember the cruel reality that I'm living in a place too far away from any of these events, and that I have not the financial means to remedy that.
Welcome! I'm going on year 4 and this is the best gaming site on the web, without a doubt.

Before dtoid, I used to frequent videogames.com (gamespot) they have decent reviews, but after the gertmann debacle I started looking elsewhere. This site has the most personality and I've met some really cool people and gamers here.

My only gripe is that the editors hardly ever seem to reply to my comments, I know they're busy, but I know as a blogger myself, I try to respond as much as I can to my readers, they're the ones who keep the blogs running.
How nice. It must be incredibly fun to participate in events like that. :)

@Wolfy-Boey
I hear ya. :/
I'm looking forward to the next NARP. If not, then it will be Eurogamer next. :O)
Looks like you all had fun. Perhaps I should consider attending one of these events at some point.
<3 Becca <3
Also since that person behind you in the first pic is dressed as Poison, does that mean it's a dude?!
:O
Dtoid UK sure does have a lot of beautiful people! You guys look like you have tons of fun (totally jealous).

Nothing brings random people together like video games and alcohol haha!!
You are not a controller.
Lots of happy people. Dtoid is the cream in my coffee. Have another lovely year.
Awesome stuff!

Jealous of the events you have attended, I've tried to hit up a NARP but...nope.

I'm almost on year 5 and this is the ONLY gaming community I have not left 30 days after joining. The community is nothing short of amazing.
Wow thanks for the lovely comments everyone =]

@Wolfy-boey and @script-br That really is a shame if you live far away from any central areas of activity, but maybe you should try and arrange a more local one? there may be other people close to you who have exactly the same feelings about living too far away. Or maybe save up the money and treat it like a holiday? I know that when I stop being a student and *hopefully* get a job I will save to go to PAX or E3 because I can only imagine how much fun it would be.

@JQM78 Thanks you! Wow 4 years, thats pretty good. I have to agree with you on the personality, there are some pretty mad characters around, which is lots of fun.
I can't say I've ever really tried to get in touch with one of the editors, but if you feel that they don't reply to your comments then thats a shame, have you tried speaking to them about this? Or asking a question in a comment that they just have to reply to? I guess its hard to multi-task sometimes as they have to focus on getting the next blog out quickly.

@Hasney @Rush @mix, you guys should totally go to an event! Doesn't matter what, but as long as its destructoid it is bound to be fun :D

@Elsa @CelicaCrazed @Occams Thanks :) We are a very happy bunch, but then again so is the destructoid community in general. (especially when games and alcohol is involved!!)

@AnotherRumpKicker I totally am a controller, did you not see the photo?

@Batthink :) can't wait! Though we should do a summer thing hopefully, its been too long!

@Justice <3 you too sean :) Also I'm pretty sure its a girl, but you know how debatable Poison's gender is... Maybe don't have any sexy thoughts about her/him :p
SO AWESOME! I'm saving all these pictures :)
"catching babies"

Love it! Glad you're having a good time.
Wow can't believe it's been a year already! Always felt like you were with us from the beginning <3

It's a shame that people are getting busier and busier so it's hard to organise meet ups these days but we'll definitely have some kind of NARP in the summer. I've been slacking at the last couple of events with my camera but at least I managed to sneak into all but one of your photos here :3
