Damn. Usually Jim Sterling gets shocking articles like this first, especially since it is one I first spotted in the UK's Daily Mail newspaper. Rather than demonising the game, the article writer at least managed to give a few details about Small World, the game a woman from Kent played so much, that her dogs died of starvation and her children (aged nine, ten and thirteen) had to eat cold beans straight from the tin. Seriously shocking stuff.

The only good news here is that the Daily Mail (and the court judging the woman's actions) recognise the woman was responsible for this messed-up situation. Click the link above for the full article.

Well, that's tragic, but a 13-year-old should know how to skin and prepare dog.
... the thing is that these types of stories have nothing at all to do with gaming, but rather have more to do with emotionally/mentally disturbed people who find an addiction that ruins their life (be it drugs, alcohol, porn, sex, TV, internet or a multitude of other things).
... the thing is that the drug/alcohol addiction thing is just so common it rarely rates a news story anymore, but lots of kids and pets are neglected due to those addictions. :(
games are fun, but your children are FIRST!before we point the finger, we should realise that gaming is addictive before it gets REAL messy...
