Just the other night, I was listening to some of my chiptune music on my Zune. At the time I was listening to GirlJoy and decided to randomly see if anyone else on here talked about her in their blog or anything. This is what I got in return.


Nothing came back.....

I was actually shocked! So, I've decided to spread some small word about her within this community, though it won't do her any good. I'll explain later.

This is GirlJoy.



Girljoy is the chiptuning gal from the UK. She did chiptuning for awhile releasing an album called Casio Romance. Her real name is Sophie. I originally discovered her right when Anthony posted Indie Nation #29. I found her on myspace while I was bored stiff down in Mississippi. I was in Mississippi at the time to work on the BB King Museum when I was hired to install murals there with Exhibit Concepts. I had an awesome time down there, but back to GirlJoy.

Girljoy had roughly 8 thousand fans. And at the time, she had just released her one and only album. Not too long after, she had stopped making her music and had apparently asked for everyone to not use her songs on their myspace profiles. As to why, not too sure, though she claims that the reason why was that it was no longer fun. I'm sure more drama was behind the whole thing.



However, GirlJoy did do live events. She's done a few remixes. Her best remix, in my opinion, is Until Forever. The song was originally made by CasioKid. And no, CasioKid doesn't make chiptunes.

GirlJoy deleted her old myspace account, but decided to make another one because of how much of a demand there was for her music. Now she leaves her profile up with songs that are requested to leave up for myspace.

GirlJoy was selling her CasioRomance album until she decided to stop. I am one of the lucky ones who bought it before she stopped. However, everyone else is lucky because she posted the torrent of her album. Literally, check the page. Not too long ago, she posted another torrent releasing unpublished works and unfinished bits and pieces which includes a song she made called Final Fantasy 2 battle.
