About Me

Hey, My name is Aaron, I'm half black, I rock an afro, and I've been playing video games for almost all my life. I currently am the proud owner of an xbox 360.

My Favorite Games in a Series:
Final Fantasy 9
Metal Gear Solid 2(haven't played 4 yet)
Mario Bros World
Kingdom Hearts 1
Resident Evil 4, (haven't played 5)
Armored Core 2, It's the dynasty warriors of mech games, but this one still beats the others.

Check out this 10 things you didn't know about me blog if you want to know more about me.

My interests outside of video games are movies, books, some drawing and painting, and a bit of sports here and there. My favorite superhero is most definitely Batman. I loved every movie in the series, yes including the bad ones, because I have a great love of horrible puns. But that doesn't compare to "The Dark Knight", which is easily one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. My favorite movie of all time though has to go to "Back to the Future", that movie is so wholly excellent, I can't even explain it, just see for yourself.

I used to have the actual movie cover featured here, but Mikey came up with such an incredible new one that this needs to be seen by as many people as possible.

Another great interest of mine is giant robots. I think it first started when I saw the power rangers summon the megazord for the first time. After that, I considered colossal sized mechs fighting other giant things to be the ultimate form of combat. So, it's a no brainer that my favorite anime is the Gundam series, and of that, Char Aznable's Sazabi from Char's Counterattack is my favorite gundam. I hope that helps you to know a bit about me.

Glorious!

I'm also in a series of videos on youtube that me and my friends did. It's really bad, but also has a few genuinely awesome moments snuck in there. It's called Pipe Fighters. Check it out if you're bored or have a sadistic need to know everything about me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hZqVAEc5m8

I don't make an appearance in this episode, but I'm in all of them after that one.

One last thing:

These guys rule. THE END.

Persona 3 makes me wanna JIZZ. IN. MY PANTS.
Ballistic | 10:08 PM on 12.07.2008 22 comments

If you don't wanna read without pictures, just watch the video and go to bed. For those who came for Persona 3, continue.

I just needed an excuse to post that video, honestly. But sincerely, I am really very impressed and enamored by Persona 3. Me playing it all started with Dale North's review of Persona 4, which finally broke my long held stance that I wasn't missing out by not playing those games. Until I read it, I didn't know what everyone was going crazy about it for. But the next day, yesterday in fact, I found myself in the local Gamestop, and one of my old friends was working. He innocently asked if I was looking for anything specific, and that turned into a 10 minute long search by him to find the store's one remaining copy of Persona 3: FES. His determination to get that damned thing made me feel bad enough to kill any miserliness about my spending and so I took it home with me.

First of all, let me say, I haven't played very far into the game, maybe 10 hours at best, It's almost the full moon and I don't know what's going to happen, but this game has some personality to it. I use that word loosely because when I say personality, somebody could really take it to mean that it's too into itself, and 'why the hell did they have to make it so you shoot yourself in the head to summon your persona, it's just a gimmick', but they'd have to be retarded for even thinking that. When you peel away all the extra layers of style and gimmicky coolness that surrounds the game's youth oriented characters, it really has a living realistic world at work that draws you in. Things didn't entirely click for me until I was introduced to the daunting tower Tartarus, which is the only real dungeon to the game. Having to balance that and School/relationships is really one of my favorite experiences in video games this year.

After I passed that mark, I was constantly smiling to myself for lack of a better way to express how the game was growing on me. I would find myself saying such things as, 'man I really should go to bed early so I can feel better in school tomorrow' and, 'I hope she likes me, I hope she calls me before I go to bed tonight' and it be because I both cared about my character AND because it affected my battle stats. This is the exact manner of gameplay that I have dreamed about creating when I had fantasies of being a game creator. It doesn't even matter that I didn't get to do it my way, I'm still having a blast, and I'm feeling this way for doing stupid stuff that I've done in real life with dread and boredom! BRILLIANT!!

This was a last minute blog, so I apologize for the lack of pictures to keep your minds from wandering, but seriously I have to tell you, if you like RPGs, but think they're all the same, go play this one, I can't explain to you why, you just have to PLAY IT.

And JIZZ. IN. YOUR PANTS.

I love the lonely Island so much:)

I liked that Akiva was the DJ, and that JT was the janitor!

Have you heard their older stuff? Stork?

I never played Perona 3, but I have an unopened copy in my drawer, with the strategy guide, but they are for a gift, so I can't play them. ;(

But I am getting Persona 4 for Christmas, right after I read the review, I called the game store and preordered the game.

No, I was first introduced to the Lonely Island when they got onto SNL, and have neglegted to look up their old stuff, it's good I guess? I think Andy by himself is full on retarded, but when collaborating with somebody else, he somehow becomes hilarious!

Hey Chicken, I know people wanna eat you, but I just wanna talk to you, OK?

@Ballistic

Yes, it's really good. Awesometown is great, and so is "The Bu". The SNL stuff is really good to though, they have had at least 15 really memorable SNL digital shorts, maybe even more.

By collaborating do you mean the digital shorts? Because I know they do those themselves, Akiva directs, and all 3 write it, and usually Andy stars in it. Akiva and Jorma are also writers on SNL, but you can't blame them for all the crap that somehow makes it on the show.

Also, the movie Hot Rod wasn't written by them, it was supposed to be a Will Ferrell movie and they just changed the script a bit to make it more relevant.

Whoa../rant

Yeah, I've been watching SNL for years now, and saw Andy's rise to digital stardom with "Lazy Sunday" and the like. One of my personal favorites is the one with Tom Hanks that makes fun of "I'm too sexy" with 'do not hurt my testicles'. I think some of the shorts are crap though. Mostly good, but some definite misfires, which makes me think Andy just goes off and does something stupid until the writing guys hook him up with something actually funny. I've actually heard of Awesometown though, and heard it's a shame it was never picked up. But I haven't heard of The Blu, so I'll have to check them out both.

Never could get into P3, it was just so mediocre.

The single dungeon thing was terrible, only the walls changed, your A.I controlled party members where dumb as rocks, the dating sim mechanics where retarded and the worst thing was the full moon events.

You could only reach a certain point in Tartarus, once the full moon event happens, THEN you can move on in the tower, so that means that if you get to the point of cannot go forward and have 20 days till the full moon event, well, hope you like grinding/shitty dating sim mechanics cause that's all you can do.

Also, leader dead=game over was fucking retarded.

Kyousuke, you bring up good points, but none of those things have affected my play of the game so far that it's detracted from how I've found the game to be. I barely train in Tartarus, so I'm trying to catch up with how far I should be, and I do like the high school aspects of it enough for it to keep me engaged. I will admit though, I have been stung by the fact that your party is limited in what they do to help you, and that if you die it's game over. It's gotten me killed with the fluke of a single turn that couldn't have been predicted or helped. But that's the way things go in RPGs sometimes.

Persona 3 is an absolute masterpiece. Nearly every aspect of that game is perfect, and I think P4 has a ton to live up to at this point.

The Answer, that's another story. It's totally worthless.

Peteyrock, I'm glad I was able to show you how awesome Persona 3 is, it's pretty much been all I've played since I got this back in december, and I'm not done with it, and it's remained great. Do play it when you get the chance.
