Ultimate Portal Cake
BakaTanuki | 10:22 PM on 04.09.2008 19 comments

I have been very disappointed with the internet lately. Is it not the internets job to instantly provide me with works of exceptional quality based off of all the latest memes and such? Shouldn’t I be able to look up “portal cake” and access thousands of incredible cakes with perfect accuracy made by the legions of those with too much time on their hands? Of course I assumed that finding a good portal cake would be a simple task. The results were quite shocking and have left me with an uneasy feeling over the future of the internet. The main portal cake that has over a thousand digs and is the current first result for “portal cake” looks like refried beans with strawberries.

I had to fix this. I had to SAVE THE INTERNET FROM DESTRUCTION.

So I created the ultimate portal cake. (With the help of my mom of course.)

More angles from my original post at http://gamingdungeon.ikrell.com/?p=303

So I challenge the internet- post a picture of a Portal cake better than this one to help me in my fight against the downfall of the internet! No refried beans! No strawberries when that clearly isn’t a strawberry! Let us create the greatest Portal cake that the world has ever seen! The internet demands it!

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

But did you follow the recipe from GLaDos's cake orb?
Hoygeit's Destructoid Blog
Hehe nice.

Actually no; I probably should have, but I based it off of what I felt would look most like it, instead of being technically accurate.

If anyone would like to top mine by following the recipe- please do.

Recipes dont matter, as long as it tastes like a lie! ^_^

Well by appearance alone, it looks fantastic. But how does it taste?

Pretty cool. Are those chocolate rice krispees?
BakaTanuki's Destructoid Blog
Those are indeed chocolate rice krispees.

The taste.. well.. I liked it quite a bit. The only cake mix on hand was caramel, and I'm not really sure that was the best route to take. The rice krispies tasted really good with the cake on the first day, but later got too moist and wasn't all that delicious.

This portal cake is, indeed, a lie. You could of just spread choclate icing on it and put straw berrys on top xD. But meh it's not like I made and not like I'm going to, so good job.

I'm hungry now, thx :(

That cake looks good. Krispies, though? I thought on the actual portal cake was covered in nuts? I hate cakes like that, though, so I'd much prefer to eat yours. <3

My birthday is (not really anytime soon) coming up ... maybe I will have a Portal-themed birthday party ...

no more portal related fan made objects in 2008 >.<;;;

it's already a destructoid commandment.

It was a real cake, just covered in rice krispies to give it the texture. I should have taken a picture of it sliced I suppose. Those are not strawberries by the way, as those clearly aren't strawberries on the portal cake. They are actually chocolate cherries, because the coating gives it the shine present in Portal.

And yeah I hate nuts, and really the cake looked more like krispies to me >.>
