(Mario Bros. on the NES when I was 3.. so.. 1989.)
Me... Mario Brothers. The first one. I loved it and played it too death. If NES controllers were capable of being worn out then I would have just on that game alone. That started it for me. It was a Duck Hunt combo cartridge too, so I was living it up for some time.
@ Snail... Did you honestly expect that popped cherry or pooped cherry would bring good results? Even with "SafeSearch" on?
I had the combo too. I fucking own'd that game and anyone else who played with me. He'd be Luigi, and I'd beat the game (usually) before he could get to world 2.
When Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid came along, I began to appreciate gaming as a storytelling medium, and that's when I very slowly began to get absorbed into them (and convince myself I could actually play these things) and by the time I got my PS2, Dynasty Warriors grabbed me by the balls and wouldn't let go.
It's quite terrible when people always mention these classic NES games and the like, and I just blurt out "Dynasty fucking Warriors", but there ya go :)
If I played RSix I would've too.
I was gonna say something, but there ya go. It's cool you founds games (Metal Gear) to be an entertaining storytelling medium, and weird seeing as how some people get into it from totally different aspects.
YOU NEVER FUCKING PLAYED IT, SO YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
If I played RSix I would've too."
Now you die.
fly away on your fag horse, fag!
Also the first C&C largely because that just plain rocked.
bzzzzzzz..... chk...shhhh!
...but everything growing up has influenced me to love games, aside from turning to them as a form of escapism.
Probably playing Star Wars arcade in a sit down cabinet with Obi Wan telling me to "Use the Force, Luke!".
