Thank you microsoft, thank you. Sure I was pissed when I got the red asshole of doom, but now it's forced me to explore my ps3 library a little more, and there's this one gem I've been addicted to: Super Stardust HD.

SS HD is a classic, unrelenting shooter that feels more like an amazing arcade game than a console download: the action is fast, the controls sharp, simple and intuitive, yet the difficulty is uncompromising without being frustrating. It's purely score-based and luck with your power-ups is a big part of the game, increasing the addiction factor. Either that or my dealer's been cutting it with meth.

Gameplay follows the original: it is basically an awesome 3d asteroids on a mario-galaxy like sphere, but despite how boring this sounds, the graphics are amazing and it employs an awesome weapon mechanic somewhat similar to ikaruga, where you have three different types of beams individually powered up by bonus pods that effect different asteroids and enemies in different ways. The sense of power you get from the maxed out weapons is awesome, and the combo system adds another layer of complexity and win. If you own a ps3 you need this game.
