Still........Looks sexy!
What difficulty do they have it on? If it's on easy then that explains it pretty well.
@ Mix
They said "Normal" Difficulty...
BTW Did you see in the very first sequence.
(( @ :45 .. He gets a Silver Trophy ))
Yeah it looks SW33T! but I guess just a tad too lame. ( Flaw )
Uh yeah, the AI seems interesting....would be nice to know which difficulty it was, though.
Yeah...I've actually played this game and maybe the first few levels are toned down with the knife but trust me, it isn't possible to run around with a knife. And even if you can one hit kill in the first few levels, that doesn't make it fail. Perhaps they put it on easy? You can also look at this as at least your squad is giving you back up.
Try running around with a knife in multiplayer and see how many steps away from an enemy you can get. I doubt you will get within 20. So something is definitely tweaked in that video.
Sorry, I never liked GamesRadar...ever.
@BS3
Ahh k, I'm at work and have no sound and the video plays like stop motion as I only get to see every 3rd second or something...damn Wyse terminals...lol
Where did they say it was Normal? I am not seeing a description anywhere. Plus review copies have been given out awhile ago, maybe they unlocked an invulnerable mode?
Okay, that last one was reaching :P
From the Gamesradar article:
"the “tactic” is an excellent way to get killed while fighting the tougher, smarter enemies later in the game."
I think it's just a case of the scaling difficulty dumbing down the A.I. in the first few stages.
I think most people are excited about the multiplayer anyway. Takeshi is the only person I've talk to who's seemed to have any real interest in the single-player campaign so far.
Oh god, I hope they patch this. From what I played of the beta I don't think there was a knife. If there was, I didn't notice it. So I wouldn't worry about this problem in MP.
Reminds me of BF2142 though. You could knife someone 1 hit kill every time.
There is no knife in multiplayer, they have a pistol that never runs out of ammo.
My brother doesn't play online so he is all about the single player.
I just want to know when the fuck I can download the demo...
NEVAH!
*goes off to play beta* muwahahhahaha!
@ Shipero
Thank You for that!
@EDS
February 3rd is what I've heard. I'm still waiting for my code.
If this was multiplayer then we'd have a problem. But this really doesn't bother me. If you're skilled at all, you just won't do it.
I'm confused... whats wrong with making the knife a viable option?
@Demtor
Basically it is showing how dumb the AI is and thinking the game is too easy.
@ Demtop
GamesRadar.com & their Review Copy claim...
You can just Stab your way through the first few levels of the game. if you ask me that's on the verge of cheese.
(( I believe their trying to point @ A.I. Flaws. ))
Why the hell would you play with a knife in the SP?
It's al about the experience for me... so in an FPS I'll be using something else then a knife :p
If the enemies hadn't been distracted shooting at the friendly npcs, it doesn't look like he would have ever made it through the first part, and if all the red is bad, the player comes quite close to death on several occasions, and the cuts in the video make me suspect that you can make it by trial and error with the knife, but not straight through.
It's like being able to beat Morrowind in six minutes if you can do the scrolls of icarian flight jumps just right. Stabbing your way through Killzone may just be a matter of working it just right and lucking out on the AI.
I'm with Trev, he got really close to dying about 3 times in that video. Most times he was approaching the enemies from the side or back so they don't really have too much time to react.
If this video shows anything, it shows that the AI doesn't always focus on you which is a HUGE flaw in FPS games where there is a large scale war. If the soldiers always focused on you then it would be very annoying. So no matter what people do your always going to have something to complain about. Why anyone would play an FP---->S<------ with only a knife is beyond me but whatever. Im still pumped for this game.
I'm still calling my local EB stores asking when the damn demo code is in so I can drop $5 on the game early to try it!
The cards were "supposed" to be here on Jan 5th :(
It was never a problem in Warhawk either with radar stealth.
Is this supposed to be some kind of code?
@Mix
The GameStop by me has the codes, but they're not active yet.
Lol I once finished pretty much the entire halo campaign by using melee ...on normal that is but still..
In lower difficulty settings such things don't need to be hard...there are entire hordes of locusts running into my chainsaw in gow 2....
Gamesradar is just trying to get its fair share of hits this way...
I enjoy the site but stuff like this is pretty lame...
I bet Sony will claim you forgot polend.
New to the site. I would'nt read to much inro the knife thing all FPS have one or two levels that are easy to get through, it helps the players to get acclimated to the control scheme.
Isn't the first level and maybe one or two after that kinda like training levels for most games? I wonder if you could do something like this on some COD4 levels or other fps games, like masterninja said he did in halo. And I did notice that in the lower dificulty levels of GOW2, it felt like I could run around and chainsaw every locust I saw.
I'm not going to watch any video anymore. I want to pop my own cherry thanks very much. The singleplayer is going to rock. I'm from Amsterdam I can feel the good vibes buzzing around the city.
On the difficulty: The difference isn't more enemies or less ammo. It's the A.I. being better. So do yourself a favour and play it on a super hard difficulty. Try and knife your way out of that.
One more thing, I've beat Killzone 1 on the hardest mode there is without dying once. Death meant start from the beginning. It was hard as balls but practice makes perfect.
Do you have to knife everybody because you can? No. Is it a bad thing you can? No. A random Japanese guy can beat Tetris in 10 seconds with his eyes closed while playing behind his back, upside down with his face stuck in the toilet. Is that bad? Does that say anything about the game? Because some superhuman can it doesn't mean everybody can.
I know one thing, Shipero can knife his way through endless hordes of Dtoiders in Warhawk. It doesn't make the game suck, just Shipero.
I've read my comment again. It may sound a bit angry. I didn't mean to sound like that. Don't touch my dear baby Killzone! :D
p.s. I love your Banner dude, it's slick.
@ Takeshi
Your Forgiven without being Forgiven...
It's all good here on DTOD bro!
BTW Thanks!
^ Fail
DTOID...
Fixed.
Looks like I might have a reason to actually put a game in my ps3 next month. It's pretty much just a dvd player right now.
@Weedgan
Buy some Blu-rays.
