IGN recently posted a new eyes-on report with Gas Powered Games’ newest C endeavor, Demigod. Now, I’m not really a big PC gamer as I cannot possibly support all the upgrades needed to play the newest thing, but this game looks rather interesting.
In it, you take on the role of a demigod in a mystical world. You can choose between massive Shadow of the Colossus-esque beasts (called generals) or smaller more nimble characters (called assassins). There are multiple types of each character class and each class offers a different play style. When playing as a general the game plays more like an RTS (but with your armies running around your feet), while assassins are more akin to hack-n-slash games with magical powers and fighting abilities.
No matter who you choose, the game is kinda like a game of tug of war as you push your forces forward across a map grid to eventually attack and destroy your enemy’s base. Killing and conquering awards points for unit and building upgrades so you can more effectively decimate your foes. The generals were shown to be upgradeable, too. I’m sure the assassin’s will be able to purchase new powers as well.
There is also rumored 5v5 multiplayer where everyone plays as a different general. The strategic possibilities already have me moist in the pants area.
There isn’t too much information available, but what’s there looks pretty neat. I like games that try new things, and this could be worth keeping an eye out for. As of right now it’s slated for a 4th quarter release this year for PC and possibly 360. Plus, having a giant battle between SotC monsters is automatically epic and worthy of discussion.
Thoughts?
But there is also no info or images, or anything.
This was the first I had heard of it. Looks good. Can't wait.
looks a wee bit lame
I also heard in the game that you can kind of choose to play towards the micromanaging spectrum or you can play towards the DOTA spectrum where you pick a hero. Its all up to your play style.
