I came across this picture on Forever-Fantasy.net and the topic is the persistent rumor that Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming to the Wii.
For those not wishing to click out this is what it says:
"We'll kick off the next 20 years of Nintendo Power with more big reveals, including a top-secret cover story fit for a
king. It's got a lot of
heart. Just kidding. It's Mother
3. Please look forward to it."
It came out of a Nintendo Power and, already, speculation has begun that the newest in stallment of the KH series will go exclusively to the Wii.
Can I begin to explain how infuriating that would be for me? As a long time fan of the Kingdom Hearts series I don't think I could deal with the fact that the latest installment of one of my most beloved series would be released on the same system that dictates that a fucking balance board is a "gaming device".
I don't know exactly how hard I have to pray to make this not happen, but I'm going to just start now so that I can cover my bases.
Can you tell I'm in a foul mood? Good. Don't you dare wave your little waggle controller sticks at me either.
This gen is going to hell anyway. Meh.
Why are you so angry about the balance board? It's a nice peripheral with a specific purpose. I like getting 30 minutes of exercise and then playing Blast Works on the same machine. And it's not like you have to own one. The Wii has a lot of great games on it and it really caters to old-school gamers like myself.
As for the Wii "catering to old-school" gamers I just don't believe that at all. I've been playing videogames for more than 20 years now and the only argument that it is "old-school" is that it features "old-school" character games such as Mario, Metroid, and Zelda.
However, 3rd party sales for the system have been dismal at best and if I wanted to get exercise I would go run around the block for free.
Also, that huge userbase? If it's so darn appealing then why cant anything other than party games be sold on the system? Games that -should- sell (boom blox) on the Wii, dont. That huge userbase is pretty much worthless if everyone is content playing Wii Sports forever.
don't understand why Squeenix would do a BS move like put it on the Wii. Though it does make much sense since it's cheap and overall the best choice for the crowd it's intended towards.
KH: Birth by Sleep is what its called.
But some good points were being made up there though, like why the only games for Wiis that seem to be selling are party games. I see no marketing for any games these days,
so I'd say that's a big factor in it.
I will say though I think bundling Wii Sports with the system is somewhat of a mixed blessing. On the one hand, you have a major selling point, on the other, you have people who all they play is Wii Sports.
Sure, it's possible that Square could just crank something out, slap Disney characters into it and call it Kingdom Hearts III. Somehow I doubt that.
Face it, you know nothing of the game and you can't even come up with a good reason why it SHOULDN'T be on the Wii. Keeps the PS2 graphics and style, actually a bit better. The game will be cheaper. And Square makes quality products so it won't be a BAD game.
The Gamecube was a very powerful machine and the Wii is a step up from that. If a developer puts emphasis on art design over the number of polygons used games will look much better.
My first thought was a Kid Icarus game, but I dont remember Pit with a sword. I guess we will just have to wait till next month.
That is all you do in that game, and that's practically undisputable.
KHIII = done with the series
Also I love KH for what it is; a mindless, fun button mashing RPG-lite with some shiny graphics and kids in funny clothes. But I don't wanna see it on Wii. I think PS3 is a better guess.
YOU CAN'T DUMN DOWN "PRESS X BUTTON OVER AND OVER TO WIN"!!!
It's already pretty dumb, not to mention dumb.
Hell, you want Kingdom Hearts, move to Anaheim and go to Disneyland every day. Done.
Personally, I'll look forward to it on whatever console it comes out on, so I don't have any personal stake in it. However, if I were a businessman, I'd do my best to get the series on Wii where it could take off.
