About Me
First off is my highest honour -- my shit on the front page of Destructoid.

I was born back in the days of yore, when 3-D graphics were only a dream.

I like games.

Super Nintendo had to be one of the best consoles. Mario, Metroid, Link, Kirby, Donkey Kong and everyone else came to the party. Good times.

I own a Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, Wii, PS1, PS2, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, and a DS.

I regret missing some of the good old days, back in the early 90's, because I was too young to appreciate a good game when it smacked me in the face. Such is the folly of youth.

Somedays I wish I could have lived through such tumultuous times, what with the advent of Spandex tights and Rap, but then I think that it is much better to live longer and be younger than all of you people who did enjoy Super Metroid and Mario Kart in it's heyday and just be content with an emulator and a Xbox 360 controller.

Favorite Games: Mario series, Donkey Kong Country/64, Metroid series, Legend of Zelda series, Fable, Halo series, Shadow of the Colossus, GTA series, God of War 1 and 2, Morrowind, Oblivion, Tales of Symphonia, Final Fantasy X, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie and more that I can't recall.

Send me a friends request if you dare, just send a message telling me you're from Destructoid so I don't think you're a 63 year old pedophile masquerading as a teenage girl to lure gullible, young boys to your basement. And if that description both fits you and you are from Destructoid then expect to recieve my home phone number and address.

Update: One year later

New games I would add to my favorites are Gears of Wars series, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock (hey, I was playing it when I joined!), and other games I cannot recall. Some games I have loved for a long time but forgot to list over a year ago are Rome: Total War, the top Mario games, and the main Pokemon GB games. The rest escape me at this time.

So these days God no longer compels you to blog, Atlas is Fontaine, and generally speaking I am pretty well known around these parts. (I hope) I regret not joining Destructoid sooner, when I first had the chance with a link from Chad Concelmo's IGN blog. Even he was born in the primordial soup IGN was, or so it would seem. I no longer frequent there or other gaming sites except from time to time because Destructoid is hopefully my internet home from here on out. A great place to be, cheers to another year at Destructoid!

Update: Another year later

Okay, so year three isn't going that great. I haven't blogged for six months and have barely visited the site. In fact, it is nearly November and my 2 years happened almost 2 months ago in early September. Damn life, going outside into the real world is time consuming! I haven't even turned on a videogame since April... (until just recently!) But of course I haven't forgotten about Dtoid; THE GREATEST SITE ON THE WEB! Sorry Dtoid, I will try to live less and Dtoid more.

Update: Another few years later

So life hit me... I still visit this site when I can... to think I started visiting this site when I was 15, and made an account two weeks after I turned 16... I'm 20 now, Destructoid is practically part of my life story at this point, even if I disappear for years at a time. Still, I remember the good old days, the days when Dtoid was like the Wild West, when I was at my most active, and when we would open the gates of Hell in our mischief, always walking on the edge of the banhammer. Now I'm just an ancient, obscure memory to the last surviving cowboys, a group even to this day I feel I'm a part of. Still, I raise my glass to you. Good times Destructoid, good times!

Oh, and to a few of us oldsters, Atlas is Fontaine.

I asked Dtoid how many Xbox 360's had died. This was my answer.
Atlas | 5:39 AM on 01.02.2009 41 comments

Yeah. Seventy-eight consoles dead as recorded on my last CBlog. I got less than fifty different people commenting. Almost anyone who has had a 360 for a while has had several funerals. Several different people are on their sixth console over a period of 2-3 years. I can't say I expected any different. To think this only represents such a tiny portion of Destructoidians is actually disgusting. Imagine how many Xbox 360s have broken over just a few years. I know they are refurbished but that must be a tremendous amount of waste. Seventy-eight consoles would weigh over 600 pounds! With such a high failure rate Microsoft must be getting thousands of consoles a day!!

To put this into further perspective I made some lovely comparisons.

With approximately twenty-five million consoles in circulation this may be cause for concern. With an estimated 30% failure rate in the first year alone the Xbox 360 has seen what I would guess around ten million failures, the majority of them RROD. Mind you, the amount of consoles with faulty disc drives, power bricks, video and audio card failure come together in mighty numbers when combined.

I myself begrudgingly burn through 360s too so I am part of the guilty party who buys these poorly designed machines. I know, this is almost as bad as buying Madden every year, but who can be blamed with piss poor third party support on the Wii and a generally lackluster showing on the part of the PS3?

So yeah. I asked and you answered. Thanks for the information you left on my last CBlog Dtoid.

Memory? Did I miss him getting banned AGAIN?

Also shame on Microsoft, the 3-year warranty isn't really enough as compensation for this error in judgement and technology that they have made.

Mine is still working. Got it like 3 Months ago... although it Red-Ringed some days ago but then magically recovered after I replugged it... strange though... those numbers really creep me out.

you have to put it into perspective. its no wonder that most of the people who took part in your poll had a xbox360 die on them. since its more common for an user with a broken box to shout out about his experience then for a user with a non-broken box. in essence: people with bad experiences complain more then people with a good experience give credit for.

that being said, i don't question that there was/is a major flaw in the design of the xbox360.

You can add 3 more to the total. My 360, my roomates 360, and a friend's 360 have Red Ringed and had to be shipped back for repairs with in the last year.

I had my red-ring about 6 months ago and then as soon as I got a "new" one back it red-ringed on the setup process and it was back to Microsoft. So count two for me.

I think you've started something, Atlas. Something... /big/.

Also, how was Heretic banned this time? I don't really care about the guy (I'm not Sho Nuff, guys. I swear.), but even I'm a little curious as to what happened.

360, Zune, can Microsoft make anything that doesn't suck. I'm tired of them fucking cutting corners. Something needs to be done. I hope that lawsuit goes in our favor.

That's a lot of failures!

Please do a PS3 bluray drive one in 1,5 years, I wonder how that is gonna go. At the rate that ppl around me are getting dead drives, I'm a bit anxious of picking one up after the pricecut :/

Great blog.

I didn't vote in your last one but I, too, have experienced RROD. Twice, going on third. It's already showing the symptoms like over heating and freezing.

Fuck you, Microsoft. FUCK YOU.

Two more.

Mine (which red ringed the fucking week before BIOSHOCK), and my best friend's, which he didn't bother to get fixed and just bought a new one, despite my constant protests.

Actually the rate of 360's breaking is 100%. Ive asked about 100 people where I live and they have had at least one break. Plus im on my 6th one and its been freezing all week so ill probably be going for seven real soon.

+1. My original 360 (which I got at launch) finally kicked the bucket about 6 months ago. He was a trooper, that one.

The replacement/repair has been smooth sailing since though, so it's all good.

Don't add my two unless your willing to blame Capcom, because Dead Rising killed my 360, twice.
