So at the behest of my buddy ChillyBilly, Ive decided to start a blog here in the Destructoid-sphere. And I figure, if I'm going to do this, you should probably know what I like, so you will know what I will most likely be talking about. Make sense? Good! Lets give this a shot.
I am a geek. I enjoy geeky things. Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Gaming, and good Stories are all in my pantheon of great things. So in no particular order...
Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Thriller, Horror, Comedy. If its got a good story and a good cast, I will probably enjoy it. Some good movies that stick out as I write this?:
Pacific Rim: Hits me right in the nostalgia. A movie about giant monsters fighting giant robots? As a geek, whats not to love?
Cabin in the Woods: Recently caught this one on Netflix, if your a fan of horror movies, Joss Whedon, or movies in general, this is a must see movie. Starting as a traditional horror movie, Cabin makes a move most movies would be scared to make and goes all out in Act 3, it is truly a sight to behold.
Cornetto Trilogy: Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and the soon to be released The Worlds End. 2 hilarious movies, and a third on the way. I love satire movies, and these are some of the best.
*Obligatory (somewhat relevant) image to break up wall of text*
When I get the chance for some quite time, I do enjoy a good book. Recently I have been trying to trudge my way through the Black Library and its MASSIVE collection of books. Being a fan of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy, Some of the works have been some of my more favorite series.
Blood Angels Omnibus 1: As a fan of the Blood Angles, the Omnibus is a magnificent read. Learning the two part story of Rafen and the Blood Angel Civil war was one of the best books in the Library in my opinion.
The Sundering: The tale of the Elven Sundering was on of the better book series I have read. The tragedy of both Alith and Malekith has become one of my all time favorite series.
Harry Potter: No matter what some people may say, I grew up with this series, and it is a quintessential part of my childhood. Nostalgia mode activate!
*I love this image WAY to much. Its everything there is to love about a geek right there. Including the raw anger at getting things wrong!*
I do not watch much television, but when I do its geek.
Doctor Who: I'm a huge whovian. I have watched every episode of New-Who and rank it easily as my all time favorite TV show. I'm anxiously awaiting the 50th Anniversary special, followed by the Christmas Special where we get a new doctor. Its a good time to be a whovian.
Top Gear: This show has fostered my enjoyment of cars. I cant really consider myself a 'car guy', but I really do love cars. Plus watching Richard, James, and Jeremy make fools of themselves is always entertaining.
WWE: Yes, Ill admit it. I enjoy watching WWE. Its sort of a guilty pleasure. Much like Harry Potter, Nostalgia mode go!
Its why we are all here right? I wont go into detail on all the games I enjoy here, Ill save that for the future. However, here is some of what you can expect.
Tabletop Games: Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, Magic the Gathering, Board Games. I play them all. With regular sessions of all of the above, I tend to get pretty interesting stories from all of them (as I'm sure many of you have). Tabletop gaming takes up as much time as Video Games in my life, so Ill most likely post several stories from my adventures!
*Gandalf Uses AK-47! Its Super Effective!*
RPGs: The backbone of my video gaming. Dragon Age, Deus Ex, and Dishonored have all been added to my collection thanks to the lovely Steam sale. Hopefully, more tales and musings from these games to come.
Strategy: Total War series, Starcraft, Civ V, I do love me some strategy games. Rolling through the enemy with a wall of cavalry is one of life's simple pleasures.
So that's me! Any questions? I'm sure you will all learn more about me in the coming weeks anyway! Any suggestions? I'm new to blogging, so any tips and tricks would be appreciated! read
