And guess what? It's another
Gamecube game! I know many people are still frustrated that the Wii doesn't have
the game that is the archtype for all other games that follow it. Of course they are coming, it's just it's...well...I guess we (and me) are all just impatient. People criticize the Wii and it's games. Wii supporters say the best has yet to come. It's just frustrating that all the games available have faileld to fully use all the Wii's power to it's full potential.
9.0
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, is not any different. IGN just gave the game a
9.0, so it
is a borderline AAA title. But we already knew that, right? And not just IGN, but the game seems to have gathered the average score of 9.0
across the board. (Many people are not particularly
fans IGN's
"nerfed" reviewing system.) I wouldn't be surprised though, if as more reviews from other sites are factored into this average score, we see RE4:Wii's score dip a bit into the high 8's.
Good controls?
While waiting for this game to be reviewed these past few weeks, I've had this sinking premonition that Capcom would screw something up, or just tack on the motion controls and the review scores would tank just like the
PC version. But, apparently the controls are pretty solid. I do believe Resident Evil cames have always had awkward control schemes in the past, and IGN basically says it's the same here as well. Once you get used to turning the character with the analog stick and what not, it should become quite a fluid experience from that point on.
That might be hard for me to get used to. I spent quite a lot of time throughly playing Call of Duty 3, and Medal of Honor: Vanguard. Not because they are good games, but I was savoring the new way to control a shooter on a console (and I love WWII). Even the slight changes from COD2 to MOH:V were very difficult (for me) to get used to at the first part of the game, especially since I played them back to back.
From IGN's review, it's said that the Wiimote does not turn the characters view at all. That might take some getting used to for me, but when I think about it, it is actually quite relieving because I an reminded of all those times I've accidently jolted the Wiimote the wrong way (or dropped it) while fighting the
Wehrmacht, and thus losing my field of vision and getting killed. Resident Evil 4, will definitely turn the heat up when it comes to getting to close for comfort with the enemy, so, I assume Capcom made a smart move here.
It's been fun, but I do hope this is the end of the ride...
Capcom, I held out from playing Resident 4 on the Gamecube, because I wanted the extras that came with the PS2 version, so I waited it for then. Then you announce the whole package will be on PC, and so I hold out even longer for that. You screwed that up, and then you announce it's coming to the Wii! Okay! Enough of this
running-in-circles nonsense! No more Resident Evil 4 games please! I just want to play this game and enjoy it without worring I'm going to have to buy it again!
Capcom does have an unusual reputation within the gaming community. They can make some killer games, and yet commit some very stupid mistakes that seem us, on this side of the fence, as something easily repairable.
Seriously, for some reason, the communtiy blogs blow up all the images I put on posts. It's still it beta though, so don't go pissing in my cheerios please. :D
