Shining Wind Gameplay Trailer

Another JRPG for PS2? You better believe it! These days, even with a heated next-gen battle going on, japanese game developers still manage to pump out these suckers. You'd think, on a playing field where you can get JRPG's for a dime-a-dozen, maybe they would move on to a new medium. I'm not up to speed with with each console's status japan, so I would assume PS2 is still a viable platform, which is sad, but not surprising.

Gametrailers.com is probably the only place I ever get to see trailers and media coverage for JRPG's, and games that are not necessarily destined for a world-wide market. They did manage to showcase a new game called "Shining Wind". This game follows suit with the others with most of the art being of the anime variety (nothing wrong with that). Shining Wind, is the sequal to Shining Tears, which got average reviews across the board.

I've never played the first game, so the Shining series would be completely new to me. My favorite JRPG, would probably be Chrono Trigger, which I have had a very strong urge to play recently. When I watched this trailer, I found it very similar to Chrono Trigger/Secret of Mana in art, style and combat. Perhaps there are tons of games out there just like this, I don't know. I don't usually play this type of game, and it looks like it could be that thing we call "fun" we used to have so much back in the day. The melee fighting as well, as using the gun (is it a gun?) is really something I've been wanting to play. So who knows, I might pick this up, just for the heck of it.

Although, that girl yelling "AEE AEE AEEEE" would definitely get obnoxious over time, as it did in this trailer.

Edit: I fail at embedding. Click here to view the trailer.
