So when i read about a new game called Okami Den the first thing it came to my mind was of course Okami but i made myself some question about this. Will it be a spin-off? or it will be a new sequel of the game?
The question i never made was for which console will be make? When i heard that it was a sequel of Okami but for the Nintendo DS i kinda felt disappointed i mean, Okami is on my Top 10 games of all time and ive always wished to see a beautiful game like that on the HD consoles of these days, i know this might sound like im only putting my interest on the graphics but lets be honest the game looked amazing on the ps2 how would it look on the PS3 or 360? Then i saw this.
After watched this i made some observations.
First i was amazed on how good the graphics of the game looked (im still thinking it should be make for 360 and PS3) it looks like the art style graphics that i loved of the 1st game stills here which is good. Then i realized this was a prequel of the first game and i saw a more young Amaterasu (i think) which i dont know much but i feel kind of bad since i really wanted to see the older Amaterasu again. Now the part that really is important: The Gameplay. Recently ive been playing Scribblenauts on the DS which is really good looking, creative and unique but it had some flaws, mostly of the flaws where on the gameplay and controls but im sure many people will overlook those flaws just cause how unique the game was, this made me think that the developers were focusing more on the art style of the game or the words or stuff you can summon and forgot about the controls, this can happen with Okami Den as well. I'm sure im not the only one who would like to see the game on a HD console and for those reasons the developers will try to make the best to make the graphics of the game as most great as possible so, what if they forget about the gameplay and the controls? the touch screen thing is not always good and sometimes if the controls of a game sucks, so the gameplay and the game is not fun (Killzone 2).
So there all are my thoughts about the game, im still thinking its awesome that Okami is seeing a sequel and im really looking forward to this game.
Don't mean to nitpick, just making a correction...the name is "Okamiden" as in Okami Gaiden. Gaiden is a Japanese word that basically means sequel. Not Okami Den, as in a den of Okamis, which would be even more cute than this game's main character (Chibiterasu).
I don't think there's any need to worry about the gameplay being poor in this game. Capcom knows the DS. And if they can make the brush stuff work with a control stick on the PS2, then they sure as hell can make it work when you're actually DRAWING on a screen.
I do agree though, an Okami game in the same style on an HD console would look dead sexy...
The DS is the most logical choice for a Okami sequel for a number of reasons. One, it's the cheapest console to develop for, and if sales of the original Okami are any indication, Okamiden wont sell a whole lot. Therefore, it needs to be cheap to make in order to turn a profit.
Related to that is the fact that The Ds has the largest and fastest growing global install base out of any console.
Thirdly, the DS is a perfect fit for Okami's "draw the world" gameplay.
Fourthly, cel shaded games have sold pretty well on the DS, but pretty poorly on current-gen home consoles.
In short, the DS was the only place a game like Okami could see a sequel. If Okamiden sells extremely well, then you may see a sequel on a home console some day, but even then I wouldn't bet on it.
controls of a game sucks, so the gameplay and the game is not fun (Killzone 2)
After all of the changes to the game, the numerous updates, the focus of the devs to make the game more equal in the multiplayer, the nerfed assault class, the better ground and flying bots, and finally, the change to the controls scheme to pander to the whiny shits complaining about how it not like their beloved COD4 in the controls, you still don't like the game??
In this case, it's not the game that sucks, it's you playing it. Guerilla decided to take a differnt, and better appraoch to FPS on consoles and make you actually learn how to pay with the controls, so not evry player is automatically good at the game. It's been months since the game has been released, if you are still not good, or decent at it, then, you, yourself suck at the game, not the game itself.
I may seem harsh, but it is true, when someone blames a game controls for making the game suck, after after they have been much improved, then the person sucks, not the game. Have you heard any complaining about KZ2 controls after the devs added high precision?? I sure haven't.
Also, might I correct you in saying that it is a prequel: It is actually a sequel that takes place a few years in the future, and stars Amaterasu's DAUGHTER.
I actually think the Wii could have been just as good for Okami as the DS is, but the Wii version was so flawed when it came to its controls that I don't think I'd want to see what Capcom would do a second time.
And sorry for my mistakes with the name XD.
@Mushman
That might be true that i suck at the game, i almost finished the game on elite, didn't beat the Rac Patrols part, but after all this time i know people who still thinking that the controls sucked, and i think i used bad a term the game didnt sucked, the game was not enjoyable at least for me.
Not really, he mentioned it in his blog, I thought he was wrong, and stated my opinion. It was sentence or two, at the end of the blog, but enough to warrant a response off of someone who doesn't think the controls are bad.
Changes have been made in the control scheme to make it better, and have been welcomed unanimously, as far as I can recall, there is no more whining about the controls. So when someone comes out saying the controls suck, I tend to refute that point.
@Armando
Ah, ok, thanks for the added clarification. I sounded more harsh than I liked in my response, so I apologise, oh and have you tried the new control scheme, high precision?
It makes everything a lot smoother, and well, better I'd say. Especially online, it's a lot more fast paced and more exciting.
I wish they'd just've done another PS2 installment. The PS2 still has more upcoming new releases than people think, and just about everybody already/still has one.
That said, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and I'm gonna be grateful for the Okami we get rather than the Okami I dreamed of.
Both PS2 and Wii Okami, as sweet as they may be, didn't sell that well. The DS is indeed perfect for this game. Perhaps Capcom should consider an iPhone version later on too.
Also, comparing a seasoned outfit liked Capcom to Scribblenauts' devs 5th Cell is a bit unfair, but I see where you are coming from, with potential controls worrying you. I have faith that Capcom will deliver this game in top form, like most of their products.

So, you suck at KZ2, don't blame the controls.

Wrong blog.
@phantomile:
Huh. You know, Ameratsu having a daughter seems... really, really weird, somehow.

Me too
Isn't this kind of the wrong place for whining about whining about Killzone, though?
