I created a terrible, NSFW 12-page comic called Dream Dive. It's not porn, but it would probably suck less if it were. Or more. I don't know.

I also made a terrible stop-motion video called Godzilla Versus the Zoids as an excuse to burn some model houses from an old art class a few years back.

Favorite games include:

Thanks Brawl, both my Gamecube controllers are messed up now!

Yes yes, another Brawl blog, I’m sorry. If it makes you angry then go read someone else’s C-blog, I won’t mind.

So, either thanks to Brawl, or thanks to my own idiocy, both of my Gamecube controllers are messed up. Granted, they’re both third-party, so I really shouldn’t be too terribly surprised, but I learned quickly after purchasing the game that the Gamestop-brand white piece of crap controller’s joystick was messed up. My cursor for the character/level select stuff always travels down screen on its own, and when I’m actually fighting, whoever I picked sometimes can’t decide whether they want to be standing or ducking, or I’ll just be standing still and tap A and they’ll do their down-A attack.

I cast it aside and switched to my Mad Catz controller, which I liked more to begin with, and it worked fine for days up until I was in the middle of going through Classic Mode on Hard with Sonic, when the A button started getting STUCK. So I paused the game, switched BACK to the white Gamestop controller, and stuck with it, even through 4 hours of online matches (Das Inchworm totally kicked my ass so hard I was wearing it for a hat) until it just got too bad yesterday.

So now, after wrestling for 15 minutes with the thing trying to come up with a working custom control setup, I’m using my Classic Controller, thus sapping the battery life from my Wii remote. But I can’t be the only one, can I? Are any other Dtoiders using something OTHER than the tried and true Gamecube controller?

Also, I’ve set up a Flickr folder for my Brawl Snapshots. Only 11 shots in there right now, but hey, I’m sure it’ll grow soon…

I never had a gamecube myself but a few of my friends did and they always seemed to have severe problems/malfunctions with third party gear. I think that it's not actually Brawl but as brightnocturn said the controllers are badly manufactured.

My Mad Catz controllers do the same thing. The joystick randomly sticks to one direction every once in a while which leaves me scrambling to unplug and re-plug the controller (it always fixes it). So if you're playing me online and I randomly just walk off the edge (like I did while playing BSD the other day), that's why.

You're first mistake was buying anything made by Mad Catz. They make this shittiest of the shitty

I've had the same problem, but with my Wavebird. It'll act like I'm pressing right on the control stick when I'm not touching it at all. Sometimes if I turn it off and on I can get it to work for awhile, but then it acts up again.

It's really too bad too, because you can't find Wavebirds or any official Nintendo controller for that matter anymore. (regular corded controllers can be found but are scarce, Wavebirds can only be found on eBay for upwards of at least $60....used.) Really stupid of them to stop making controllers when there are a number of Wii games that allow you to use them.

I just use the Wiimote + Nunchuk combo...

No issues here, and I've really grown to like the control setup.

@king3vbo

True. It's just way hard to find original GC controllers in the store anymore, and I'm too impatient to order them online.

My wavebird did that awhile ago, surprising as it may seem. I think it was too much animal crossing.

With the control stick going down automatically, I mean.

Sometimes if you turn the console on with the control stick going down, it'll for some reason think that down is the resting position. I've had this happen every so often. It might not be your problem, but you could check.

@WDot: Nope, it's not that, I think it's just the controller itself sucks.

I was considering finding a Wavebird or just regular Gamecube controller, but as several have already pointed out, they're hard to find now and expensive to boot. I think I'll just stick with the Classic for now, I'm starting to really like it.

I bought some third-party wireless Gamecube controller at Target (the only kind they had) and it works pretty decently. I think it's Mad Catz. It's "micro-sized" which means it's the perfect size for my girlfriend's hands, although my buddies have trouble with it. No problems yet. I actually wish I had picked up another. Oh well.

Sounds like a calibration issue with the thumbstick.
