Mindf*ck Monday: Interstella 5555
Analoge | 5:55 PM on 11.02.2009 9 comments

(Submitted for your approval: Mindfuck Monday, a weekly smorgasbord of sights and sounds the likes of which you cannot fathom.... Or just another guy streaming a movie, depending on how you want to look at it.)

Good evening, Destructoid.

Let's not mince words here. This movie is absolutely amazing. If you have any interest in Daft Punk or old school anime I suggest you join us this evening for Interstella 5555.

What I love about this movie, besides giving one of my favorite albums (Daft Punk's Discovery) some incredible context, is how clean and fluid the animation style is. The art direction is reminiscent of several old animes, particularly Gatchaman (or G-Force depending on when and where you were watching it). I'd recommend this movie to anyone, so come join us. Yes, you. And clean up that mess in the corner there. It's disgraceful.

While Discovery is one of the very few albums that I really really love, I don't know if I'd call the movie a masterpiece. I will give you that it's pretty memorable, though.

I saw it months ago on DailyMotion or YouTube. i cannot recall right. I own the Discovery album and I agree that it's fantastic.

the movie is kind of strange on how to explain some things, but all in all its memorable and a tiny silver-framed show.

I watched this on monday with my 5 year old cousin. I love it but he wasnt really into it.

@roland9000

your 5 year old cousin didn't like it because it wasn't administered with amphetamine as instructed in the guide on electronic music. Next time you force your little cousin to watch techno movies/listen to techno share. Your bogarting the speed! (not trying to troll if you dont like my comment then take one in the rear)

BTW Techno, Daft Punk, and Amphetamine (not the meth kind (it makes me sleepy during the high (and awake during the comedown (not a good combination (not to mention its not good for you))))) <- yes that is correct close parenthesization.

 about me

Email: 4naloge@gmail.com

Hello. My Name is Analoge. I am using a pseudonym.
I am an aspiring writer (like you've never seen those words on destructoid...) who, strangely enough, would like to write about video games for a living.
Currently, I am a recovering sailor, formerly of United States Navy fame. Now I'm jobless, and it's pretty awesome. I intend to go to college in the near future, but for now I'm just trying to get through Lost Odyssey.
I'm in the Memphis, TN area, and would love to come* to any dtoider's house and play video games with them**.

"Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of." -John Flansburgh

I am currently playing:
Lost Odyssey
Shadow Complex
BlazBlue
Team Fortress 2 (over and over again)

MOAR:

The first video game I ever played was Ninja Gaiden. It took me years to get past that knife throwing motherfucker in the second level.

Here's a list of some of my favorite video games, if you care:

Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
Psychonauts
Psychosomnium
Beyond Good and Evil
Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, but 2 was better because it's actually possible to beat. Also, Blind Cave Salamander is an awesome stage.
Mother 3
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Donkey Kong Country 2
Yoshi's Island
Dynasty Warriors 4
Guilty Gear Accent Core (That was when they got Slayer just right.)
Katamari Damacy
No One Can Stop Mr. Domino
Bust A Groove
Gitaroo Man
Frequency/Amplitude
Killer 7
No More Heroes
The Castlevania Series

When I was younger, my older brother and I used to play Mortal Kombat (We had it for the Genesis, which we bought instead of a SNES strictly for the blood code.) and he would always beat me by tripping the shit out of me until I died. Years later I discovered low block. The world has never been the same.
