Yes, it's another guy living in Australia going on about Rock Band, so y'all might as well move on. Alright now that most of you have fucked off (or are lingering around to either offer sympathy or USA! USA! chants), we'll move on.
So today,
Kotaku are posting a rumour (and let's be clear here, it's a rumour) that Rock Band could be skipping Australia and heading straight to Rock Band 2. Apparently, a leading Australian games retailer (and let's face it, there's only about three places that could be) aren't listing the game in their catalogue. Now a quick check at GAME and EB's websites reveals that the game and accessories for Rock Band are available for pre-order and are slated for a November release. Now, that hasn't changed in a few months, so let's look at something else that's propping up the rumour. The
Australian Classification Board seem to have granted Rock Band 2 (yes, 2) a PG classification. What's more, the classification was granted last month?
Here's my stance on the whole thing: I'm interested both in Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour, mainly because I really want a drum kit for these games. I had to sell my kit when I moved over to Australia and I've not gotten a new one. Rock Band or GH:WT would offer me a chance to at least, pretend to play the drums, and Christ who knows. Maybe I'll actually be good at it. Rock Band (and naturally Rock Band 2) has the better song choice for me, and that's despite the news last week that there would be three Tool tracks for GH:WT. The killer blow for Rock Band is Doolittle by the Pixies: I've cblogged about it before and I think I've made it perfectly clear that the chance to play those songs would bring a ray of sunshine to my otherwise black, shrivelled-up, little heart. If EA/Harmonix were to bring Rock Band 2 to Australia within the next few months at a price comparable to GH:WT, then frankly all would be forgiven at my end. There's no way I'm gonna be able to afford GH:WT any time before Christmas anyway (with all the games coming out in the next few months, I'd seriously have to go without food).
Fellow Aussie D'toids! What d'you think?
DanMazkin asked us yesterday what we were leaning towards. This rumour alters the situation somewhat, does it not?

Ah, what a good idea: writing a cblog that will only be relevant to Australians, and then posting it roughly before midnight when everyone who would read it has fucked off to bed.
Lord help me, I'm just not that bright....
Makes sense, instead of getting RB 1 when the world has moved on, why not at least try to catch up.
Also, if you write a blog for Ausies, don be surprised when not too may people read it :)
I see it.
And yeah, interested to see how this ends up playing out down here.
(I also dont know why im awake at 4:45.)
Are we definitely going to get Rock band 2?
I find it hard to believe that they'd delay a game a year, but get the second one out on time.
Unless it was just song licensing issues that held them back, i guess that could make sense.
I know Rock Band 2 will be the better game, but GH:WT has the setlist that interests me.
Oh well, when either one comes out, we'll have to form a D-TOID australian band! I sing in a band at the moment, so I shotgun vocals.
