MDK now on Steam!! [shortblog]
Alasdair Duncan | 8:30 AM on 09.18.2009 13 comments

I was thinking about writing an article about MDK for the current Monthly Musing, but to be honest my memory of the game is a little foggy. But hey, now's the chance to play both MDK and it's sequel! Both are available on Steam now, either seperately or for a $20 bundle deal.Sold good sirs!

Man alive I played this game a lot whe I first got into PC gaming with the first rig I saved up for an bought with my own cash. Round about that time frame I got Grim Fandango and the original Half Life; fuck those were good times. MDK was actually bought cheap on a trip to the US, along with .... ehh Riven. Hey don't judge! There wasn't a big internet community to tell me I was paying for a piece of crap! But hey, right now there's a thread on the forums about what classic games we'd like to see revived on digital distribution platforms, and MDK was mentioned quite a few times.

Anyway, MDK: an awesome sniper rifle. Infinite parachute. Loads of fun. Get it now!

I've had the first MDK game since it came out, and I still haven't beaten it :(

Both MDK's are available on Good Old Games for $5.99 apiece. Unless Steam actually tweaked the games to run properly on newer computers, that's the way to go. MDK plays at slideshow speeds on my computer. Haven't exactly figured that out, not to mention the controls are absolutely cryptic to me.

@Fathercheesz; hmm, there's no word about compatability as far as I know. There's nothing like the tweaks they've done with the Lucasarts games to get them to run on modern OSes.

Got number 2 on GOG.com a little while back on the two for one offer, I'm currently playing through the original Fallout, then I'll move onto MDK2 soon after.

@ MrSadistic

The MDK games were pretty difficult. I thought they we're great and I thought the jokes we're great but I too struggled to get through them due to the controls being slightly to loose within the games mechanics in some of the more challenging sections.

Did anyone ever play Armed and Dangerous? I can't remember if they we're made by the same developer but that game always reminded me a lot of MDK. And sort of the same problems, the game was too challenging except this time it wasn't the controls it was that the level design was WAY to wide open so you really had no second chance to recover if you got caught by surprise.

Armed and Dangerous was a LucasArts game, but I don't remember much more beyond the Land Shark gun.

Absolutely fantastic games. I loved the second one. You have to be in the right frame of mind to play though.

I think I loved the games. But it's too long ago since I've played either one of em. Will have to check it out again soon.

Even though I never really liked twitchy shooters, I must have played MDK to death on the PSone. That game was the dog's bollocks. Never got around to playing MDK2 though. I heard it wasn't as good, so I was put off by the reviews.
