Paying for skins? Whaaaaat?! Surely, there are free mods for that kind of thing.
That said, I can see how Tripwire are making their money back on their abundance of goodies since there are enough crazy people out there willing buy these things (see: 360 Avatars). I mean, those collective two bucks add up at the end of the day, right? But this is PC gaming, there's always something out there for free!
I played Killing Floor a little bit and hated every second of it.
I think the general feeling is the same reason I bought points for Dungeons and Dragons online. They GIVE you the stuff of value for free as a gesture and support for a community they want to foster. They HOPE that by doing this, the good will extends to roughly 1%-2% of their userbase, typical paying userbase in F2P circles.
Because the skins are "Hey, if you're feeling nice and want to give a little more, buy these."
Welcome to PC Gaming. Where we don't know what this DLC is because we've been getting it for free for years now.
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
